Jeremy Hermida Projection
All sorts of good stuff to read in recent days:
The Jeremy Hermida projection over at RotoAuthority.
My latest Hot Stove Roundup at RotoWorld.
Many thanks to all who applied for a blogging gig at HoopsBuzz. I've got about ten talented writers beginning to contribute now, so bookmark the page and check it daily. Spread the word about the site! I think it's going to be a cool community for basketball very similar to this one. The latest:

hermida is the real deal. he looks like he'll be something

Certainly better than any Cubs prospect, that's for damn sure.

i'd say he's slightly better than Felix Pie. but not by much

I think by a lot given the massive difference in plate discipline.

Pie does strike out a lot...

...and doesn't walk well
or steal well
Pie is a good prospect, but I certainly don't buy this superstar in the making talk.
The only player the Cubs have that comes even close to Hermida's discpline this year is Brandon Sing, and he's still an echelon down(although he could be capable of over 100 walks in 600PAs.)
If he was only 3 years younger, able to hit for average, and could actually catch a ball on occasion, the Cubs might have an answer, and a prospect. Instead they have a longshot fringe guy.

agreed about hermida.. this kid is gonna be somethin else. i don't necesarily buy pie as a mega star either, but, i do think he'll be a real good player as long as the cubs give him another year or so to season. he's still only 21 so he has a little room to grow.
