Stark: A's Making Run At Soriano
With three hours and change left to go, add Oakland to the list of teams interested in Alfonso Soriano. Jayson Stark's latest also indicates that the Twins are "all over the Soriano scene."
Soriano doesn't work the count, but he adds slugging. The A's are last in the league with a woeful .393 SLG. Hasn't been any better in July, either - they're at .375 this month.

Well, I'd be shocked if Billy Beane picked up the contract of Soriano, even half of it. Washington would have to pick up the majority.

Doesn't it seem like a slow trade deadline day?

Eh, there seems to be a decent amount of stuff flying around. Mostly from Stark, though - Rosenthal's been eerily quiet. He's probably about to break a Pujols for A-Rod deal or something.

Yes and No.

Roto what is a big league deal you see most likely to happen? Just curious. And please do not say Clemens as that would be the most far fetched one of all.

Sori's a lock, and I think Schmidt has a good chance. I could see the Cubs sneaking in with a Ramirez trade.

Phils have Dellucci, Burrell, and Lieber starting today...watch to see who gets pulled there.

I've been saying this for weeks now (not on this board)...Soriano will not be traded, because Bowden wants the Moon and the Stars, and will end up with nothing when Soriano leaves and signs with a West Coast team (probably Angels) next year. They should be focusing on trying to trade Vidro to a contender.

Ryan The same holds true for Tejada. I do think Sori will be traded because someone will be crazy enough. Tejada though, dont think that will happen. Could, but I am having doubts.

Interesting to say the least.

Is it possible that the Cardinals will make a late push for Soriano? It would make them a huge threat to the Mets to represent the NL in the World Series.
