Pirates Not Interested in LaRoche?

Bucco Blog is reporting this morning that the Pirates and Braves talked about a trade that would have sent Adam LaRoche to the Pirates.

Evidently, all that David Littlefield was willing to ante up was John Grabow and Nate McLouth and the Braves passed.

Ok so a few things. Im not so sure about the idea of trading laroache, as he is one of the best young first baseman in the national league. But if mike gonazalez were to have to come to us in a deal, that would ease this pain a little. And also, if we are gonna trade andruw, then we dont need to trade laroache as well. We have a good young hitting core in francouer, laroache, and mccann. And the fact remains that tbe andruw jones trade will bring in the young pitching to complete a great young core for the braves to build upon for the next five years. I say we let laraoche, francouer, mccann, aybar, and thorman stay and deal either andruw, hudson, giles, langerhans, or horam if our concentration is build for the future. We need to focus on the future or the now, because wanting to accomplish both at the same time makes great trades for our future, such as santana and adenhart, lose a lot of their luster when we want to include the now, such as shields and adenhart. What do u think tim?

1) Trade Hudson for a bag of balls....anyone that will take the salary.

2) Keep Smoltz out of respect.

3) Trade Druw for young power pitching and an IF prospect. (Package around E Santana and Erick Aybar/ Kendrick/the 3B prospect that set the minor league HR record or...

..Erik Bedard??? Has this been discussed?

The Orioles have to be getting a call or two about Bedard.

4) Trade Giles for a young power reliever.

5) Personally, I'd deal Franceour because he's not my type of player, but with the whole hometown kid thing, he has marketing vaue I suppose.

6) Deal Hampton for a Adam Loewen type guy if possible?

Are the Orioles that dumb?

Hampton for Heilman?

Hampton for a bag of honey roasted peanuts?

Hampton for Peanuts?

Hampton for 2 lbs. of resin?

I can't see the Angels ever, ever giving up Hendrick. Especially after letting Kennedy go just to make way for him.

braves beast you know what i think? Your a braves fan.... spell your fucken players names the right way. LaRoche, not Laroach or laroache or laraoche, thats what i think

lol i was kinda noticing that myself, it was 1:25 in the morning

but hey i mean since the grammar police are out, it is you are, not your, guess im not the only one who makes mistakes

its not grammar its spelling, you should spell your own guys name right, and you spelled it wrong like 10 times

it was a good post other then that though

Yea I see where you are coming from, it was just late at night, but I had to post because I really like the young core of hitters we have, and I do not want to see that ruined. There are very few other teams who have the calibur of a laroche, francouer, and mccann at such a young age

lol make that francouer, it has not been a good 10 hours

a) bsox21, No one will ever take Mike Hampton's ridiculous contract...so the Braves are stuck with him for a few more years of uncertainty.

b) Unfortunately, I cannot see the Angels packaging that many good prospects into a deal for Andruw. I feel like the Braves will get shortchanged at almost avenue they take to trade him. I say keep him until some desperate team needs him around the trade deadline, or if he says he'll give Atlanta a home-team discount since he apparently loves playing for that organization. Fuck Scott Boras.

Good point, and i completely understand what you are saying. Maybe the Angels will be behind a few games at the deadline, and then be willing to give a king's ransom for andruw. However, the more possible targets get signed, the more willing to trade the angels become. Also, the higher these contracts get, the even more outrageous Andruw's contract will get next year. My point is that if the braves feel the best thing is to trade andruw, I say do it now when you know there is a high demand for him.

The point is the braves need to do something. I mean anything like trading the batboy just to get things going. They have to many chips to deal for doing absolutly nothing. They got suprisly desirable pieces for some weird reason like( Hudson, Giles,Hampton). Some serios Bargins trade like LaRoche and McCann and some heavy contract power hitters in the Jone'S. With huge holes in Right, bullpen and SOLID starting pitching.

bravesbeast i agree, i think it is the exact same situation with the jays and wells. Trade him now, when u can get more for him then at the deadline, when u may only get a few prospects, because teams arent going to want to give up a ridiculous amount, knowing he is only a rental player for 2 months.

sorry about that double post

i think braves fans should stop panicking so much, it was the first time u didnt win the division in basically my whole life, and since when is francoeur a hole in right? Anyway, they really arent too far off from contending . At all. People, smoltz is smoltz, Hudson will have a bounce back year, Hampton... i really dont know, Chuck james is a stud, and i think kyle davies can be a good one too. Maybe trade andruw jones for basically nothing, maybe a few prospects, but the team who gets him has to take hampton and his salary as well, like the josh becket deal. I really dont know but the braves arent in horrible shape

The braves are not panicking, its only certain braves fans. JS would never panick.

Fact is the braves missed the playoffs due to not having a closer due to injuries. Just about everything that could go wrong did go wrong last year and they still won 79 games. They had one bad month and outside of that month were 73-65.

i firmly believe that he team the braves have now can contend. I do think that a good leadoff hitter is needed, and a good left handed reliever, but I have never thought this teams was far from contending. My worry is concerning how we approach the future. I dont want us to make a trade of a good play just to give us more financial level and get nothing in return, and I also dont want us to trade away key components in our future away for players who may just help us now. I guess that is where i panic, but i just want all of the braves moves to benefit the braves.

Andruw, remember, can veto any trade, and both he and Boras say that they will do exactly that.

if we were to trade andruw these would be good trades

Angels-are never in amillion years gonna give up Kendrick so i think a deal mainly built around Sanatana and Jones w/a few other minor leagers would be good

Orioles-if we trade him there i say we Daniel Cabrera(who has filthy stuff when hes on) and Luis Matos.

white sox- i doubt this will happen because of the relationship between the sox and boras but if it were to happen i would get Brian Anderson and Brandon McCarthy

im sure the giants are remotly intersted givent he gap in center field

Correction:Santana
