Mariners Talking To Thomson, Ohka
According to the Seattle Times, Mariners GM Bill Bavasi has been looking at John Thomson or Tomo Ohka as possible additions.
A month ago, the Mariners requested the medical files on Thomson and seemed close to signing him. The 33 year-old had a rough year health-wise in 2006, so those files were probably pretty thick.
Haven't heard much on Ohka in the past few weeks, though the Cards, Nats, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Pirates, and Mariners have expressed interest in the past. Maybe he's waiting for Mulder to sign first. Here's my Ohka profile if you're interested.

Come on Mariners, time to do something stupid... 4 years, $36 million anyone???

Why stop at 36 Million? 4 years 48 million with a 14 million dollar option. lol

I'd like the Jays to take a 1 year flier on Ohka or Armas for 4 million.

According to the reports, Thomson has always been the "backup plan" to Zito.
And Ohka is going to make some team happy, I think. He's very undervalued.

i know the Cubs were not going after him at all but i wish the Cubs had tried to get Aaron Boone as a backup 3rd basemen just in case Aramis Ramrez got injured or something.

Have the mets even breezed a thought about resigning Trachsel?

ooops, I put that on the the wrong post. It's suppost to be on the "Whats plan E for the mets" post. RotoAuthority, please delete that if you get a chance.

Why don't the Mets give Ohka a chance?

What would the BoSox want with Ohka? We already have six good starters. He's a better fit with the Pirates. Doesnt cost a lot, and they need a vet to help those kids out. Then they can bump Chacon out of the rotation, use him as the setup man to replace Roberto Hernandez, and use Torres as the closer.
