Pirates Still In On Ohka
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, "The Pirates are among the two or three teams that have offered a two-year deal to free-agent pitcher Tomo Ohka. However, Ohka's agent is holding out for a three-year deal."
Three years for Ohka sounds like a bad idea. But hey, can't blame a guy for trying. As far as the two or three teams, it seems possible that they might be the Mets, Nationals, and Mariners.

3 yrs is a bad idea. i would give him 2 yrs w/ an option with some incentives in there for innings pitched or something. maybe a vesting option

Ohka to the Pirates seems like a bad idea with the young pitching they have.
They are dangling Maholm but want to open the vault for Ohka?

If you don't give him no trade protection and the money is right, in this market I could see Ohka getting 3 years... If he stays healthy and gives you 180 to 200 innings it could be a steal.....Especially for a team like the Mets who need a 4th or 5th starter.....

He aint getten 3 years for the Mets i dont think. I hope not also, I wouldnt mind him to a 1 year deal with a couple of options or incentives that can get him to 3 years, but I dont think Omar would commit3years gaurunteed for Ohka coming off injury. I would like an Ohka pick up also but not for 3 years gaurunteed. The Marlins had how many rookie starters last year and they were still competitive. They didnt have nearly the offense the Mets had. Just give Pelfrey and Humber their shots in spring training and give them an opputunity to win a starting job and see what happens. If anything, with no more trades from the mets now, they would still have their pieces if a guy becomes available during the year

pelfrey and humber arent ready yet bro.
pelfrey is a one pitch guy right now.
his slider is not even serviceable at this point.
his change up is barely a "show me" pitch.
pelfrey's fastball is good, but he'd get shelled in hte show at this point.
the mets need to cap humber's innings at 120 this year.
id be shocked if humber could break 100 innings in 2007.
2 years + incentives for ohka. do it omar.
