Braves Announce Teixeira Deal
The Rangers received even more than anticipated for first baseman Mark Teixeira and reliever Ron Mahay. We knew they were getting Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, and Matt Harrison. But there's now a fifth prospect going to Texas: southpaw Beau Jones.
Jones throws in the low 90s with a sharp curveball; he's been compared to Kyle Davies. The 21 year-old Jones was recently promoted to High A Myrtle Beach.
Meanwhile, Dan Lewis of Armchair GM weighs in on John Schuerholz's many dealings.

Wow, The Braves seem to really be in a win now mode, they have given up a bunch of their top prospects and there could be more if the Arroyo deal gets done.

Not looking good for the Arroyo deal to get done. Fonrt office promised not trading Arroyo. They have offered Reyes and Excobar, but I think that is over paying for Arroyo

I thought Beau Jones would would be apart of the Arroyo trade, but this is really gunna help Jones. He needed a change of scenery. He could become lights out, thats how he was in High School. I watched him... Nasty

I have to say that if the Arroyo deal goes down the Braves farm system was pretty much raped today. I am still hoping Arroyo stays a Red though.
Anyone have stats on Jo Jo Reyes in the minors the past few years.

It looks like Texas used the fact that they were holding up other deals for us as leverage to worm another prospect out of this. If that's the case then I'm pissed.
Also, all the woe and gloom about the Braves farm system being gone, I would think that our FO knows what they're doing. I'd imagine that we'll be fine.

I like the trade from a Ranger Fan Stand Point, He did'nt want to be here and would not resign so I think the team got a good deal.
Braves are getting a great player and a good community guy, hope he takes the Braves to the WS

Teixeira denied a 8yr 140 million dollar deal two weeks ago. 18 mil a year.
