Phillies Obtain Julio Mateo

The Phillies are attempting to corner the market on scumbags.  Today, they acquired 28 year-old reliever and wife beater/biter Julio Mateo from the Mariners.  Performance always wins out, and Mateo had allowed just four runs in 32.2 Triple A innings this year.

Kudos to the Mariners for leaving Mateo in Triple A and getting him out of the organization.  He should move directly into a late-inning role for the Phillies.

I found it faster than anyone else!

LOL... I forgot he's that Julio Mateo, solid pitcher for Philly but an a** hole thanks Tim.

Wife beater...Philly...should fit right in there...

Did the braves get a starter?

Blog's not working so well lately but nothing major has happened.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

MINAYA CHOKE, CHOKE..

BRAVES OFFENSE WILL CLICK, DELGADO, BELTRAN, ALOU AND GREEN, WAIT AND LODUCA CAN´T HIT...

THE METS ARE SCREWED..

GLAVINE IS GETTING READY TO GIVE UP 10 RUNS TODAY. PEDRO MARTINEZ IS COMING BACK BUT CAN HE STILL PITCH..

GOODBYE SEASON...

WE ARE SCREWED...

MINAYA CHOKE.. GOT TO ADMIRE THE BRAVES.

don't get me wrong. i just wanted to keep Milledge and Gomez..

What has Pelfrey done, even at triple A, to be so high regarded. He and Humber don't look good at all IMO.

We didn't get Elijah Dukes ? What the hell is going on ? I was expecting John Rocker to paint Philadelphia white too, just before signing...

Lol, Phillies love their wife beaters.

Well, considering that Pelfrey is in his second professional year, I would say he is doing fine. He scratched his curveball to pick up slider and a chngeup and if you think he can master 2 pitches in 6 months then your an idiot. His starts have been getting better over his last 4 outings or so. He has the occasional big inning, but he is 23 and is 6'7 and throws in the mid to upper 90's with a power sinker. You dont just give up on him after a bad 10 starts. You probably wanted to trade him to Washington for Chad Cordero or something huh? Omar continually gets criticized for things like not signing Zito or going after Schmidt, and more often then not he makes the right decision. Everybody needs to relax The braves are still 4.5 out and Mark Teixeira cant pitch so they still only have 2 pitchers that can be relied on. Im not scared of Chuck James and Jo-jo Reyes and Buddy Carlysle in a big game. Its not time to panick yet.

Maybe Myers and Mateo can swap wives like a couple Cleveland players did in the 70's...

Myers had one incident.

Another save-face move by the best save-face organization around

It hurts to be a Phillies fan.

Maybe Myers and Mateo can swap wives like a couple Cleveland players did in the 70's...

...oh yeah, thanks for bringing that up ~ only cost us Eck... :\
