Tigers Notes
Will Carroll has the scoop on which relievers the Tigers may be chasing:
The Tigers are also after a reliever, but they're not willing to give up much, knowing that Joel Zumaya and Fernando Rodney are coming back. All rumors involving the Tigers seem to be centered on Kyle Farnsworth, but they've also looked at Rauch, and asked about Jason Isringhausen and Al Reyes.
Between getting guys back and being in the catbird seat in the AL Central with postseason odds around 86%, it seems likely to me that the Tigers stand pat. After all, that seems to be what Jim Leyland thinks, as well.

They could play "Who's the Closer" if they pulled the trigger on a Rauch or Cordero deal, with two new options already in the mix in Rodney and Zoom-Zoom. I'd pull the trigger if it's centered arounfd someone expendable in the distant future like Gorkys Hernandez and/or a few live arms.

No other contender NEEDS bullpen help like the Tigers... especially if they hope to undo the memories of last season's World Series performance. Even if Rodney and Zumaya come back there's no guarantee they're both healthy and effective. And even if Rodney and/or Zumaya supplant Jones they need guys who can get them through the 6th, 7th, and 8th, too.

best part, for my team at least, about will's article is the possibility of melky coming to the stros for one of our relievers...if we could get him for qualls or wheeler, it's a complete steal.
