Finally some Giants rumors! I know a few fans have been clamoring for the team to join the hot stove rumblings. Andrew Baggarly has an article here and Henry Schulman has one here. Let's discuss.

Who do you see them going after? If Lowell signs with Boston the third base market is toast. Again.
'Course, they *could* go after Miggy C.
Also, it wouldn't be a real crime if Feliz got three years. He has hit 20 homers four consecutive years and was pretty much the best third basemen in baseball defensively last season. You wouldn't see me going for him, but again, it wouldn't be a crime.

"With A-Rod back, the Yankees don't have any interest in signing Mike Lowell as a first baseman."

Walker could be a good setup guy for Brian Wilson. Closer is Wilsons job to lose going into ST. I'm disappointed they aren't at least looking at Linebrink.
We need bats!!!

"Miguel Cabrera is one option, though Baggarly doesn't see the Giants offering up Tim Lincecum to jump into the fray."
This proves an important point about the hot stove, and rumors in general.
2 weeks ago Lincecum was said by one reporter to be available for a quality bat.
AT LEAST one of these 2 guys has NO idea what they are talking about, probably both.
e
Either that, or the Giants don't consider Miggy a quality bat, being the Giants, that is possible (doesn't pass the age requirement)

The thing with going after Miguel Cabrera is that 1) we would have to give up Lincecum and 2) we would have to also include 2 or 3 other top quality major league ready players just to get Miggy. We shouldn't be looking to give up Lincecum and also we don't have any other quality minor league players to include in a Miguel Cabrera trade.
The Giants need to try and trade for a top quality prospect that is either had some slight injury problems (Chad Tracy - D-Backs) or look into a young player that is being blocked within his organization (Ian Stewart - Rockies, Wladimier Balentine - Mariners)

im not sure what people are reading or not reading, but Morgan Ensberg is NOT a free Agent.
hes on the San Diego Padres and he's arbitration eligible.

Walker did a pretty good job as the Giants closer a few seasons ago, but I do expect to see him setup. I think this means Hennesey will end up being traded, maybe packaged with a Ray Durham or Dave Roberts to try and dump most of those salaries.
As for Miggy, the problem with him is that I don't see the Giants being able to sign him after 2 years, and they would have to give up a lot for 2 years of a player. I like the Ensberg idea if the Padres don't offer him arbitration.
