« D'Backs Rumors: Haren, Kuroda, Carlos Gonzalez | Main | Astros Rumors: Tejada, Loretta »
UPDATE, 12-4-07 at 9:45pm: A White Sox source told MLB.com's Alyson Footer not to look too much into their supposed interest in Burke.
UPDATE, 12-4-07 at 9:25pm: The Rockies have made a trade offer for Burke, according to the Denver Post.
FROM 12-4-07 at 8:07pm:
Just talked to a source close to Chris Burke. So far four teams have contacted Burke's agent: the White Sox, Rockies, A's, and Angels.
The 2001 first rounder is almost certain to be traded by the Astros; he just wants an opportunity to start somewhere. The Angels' could have an opening if they trade Howie Kendrick.

Chris Burke for Howie Kendrick?
Yeah, how about the Astros throw in Brad Ausmus if the Angels agree to give them Jered Weaver and Brandon Wood, too?

I really don't think he was suggesting a Burke-for-Kendrick swap. Just that if they acquire Burke it would free up Kendrick to be dealt in another deal.

He didn't say Burke for Kendrick, he said if the Angels trade Kendrick...at all...to anywhere, there'd be room for Burke.

I'd like to see Burke in Colorado. I bet he'd have a better year than Matsui. =/

My mistake. I misread it as written. I still think Burke would be essentially useless to the Angels, and a COLOSSAL step-down from Kendrick that just plain wouldn't be worth it.

angels already have chone figgins to replace kendrick. figgins was a 2nd baseman in the minors. burke is the angel type of player anyways.

I dont want BURKE, that'd be useless for the Sox too, we got Joe Crede ANDDDDD Josh Fields
pfff.... another bright idea for Kenny Williams
NOT

meant to say burke ISN'T the angel type of player. saw him a couple years ago at spring training and he wouldn't sign autographs.

if the angels did get burke, there's no way he's going to 2B.
he'd either slide over to SS or 3B, but probably SS. My guess is he had some potential in the minors so now the Angels want him... that's how the front office works (ie E. Santana) =/

Why are they contacting Burke's agent? He is not a free agent. What purpose would that serve?

Unless Burke can play a good SS, I don't think the A's would be interested outside of being a utility IF. Then again, if they do a Crosby or Kotsay for Burke swap I would jump for joy, but that ain't happening.

does crosby have a large contract or something? b/c otherwise i don't think that's a bad idea. i'm not expecting to get much value back for burke
