What, you thought the Brewers were dead set on Scott Rolen? Not so, according to Tom Haudricourt. They're considering the following options at third base, mostly because the left field options are worse.

Who exactly would the Sox get in return for Crede? Bill Hall? 1 for 1 swap.

He could...I don't know, play him at third. Crede won't be as cheap as people make him out to be. If KW doesn't get a good offer, he'll wait until the trade deadline.

i dont think crede can net us much major league talent right now. the only way to get proper value for crede is to let him play, which would stunt fields growth. so i think williams is going to take the best prospects someone like milwaukee would have to offer and just rid himself of the 5 mil to possibly use on a FA.

Do you see a three team deal with the Brewers, Cardinals, and Rangers? Blalock to the Brewers, Rolen to the Rangers and Chris Capuano and a "top prospect" over to the Cardinals???

Im both a sox and brewer fan, and i believe this move makes sense for both ball clubs. I believe crede can boung back form the back surgery, and his stellar defense cannot be underestimated. IF he played a full season in the NL central... i think he could do .285/.375/ 25 HR/ 90 RBIS...
that also depends where he bats, but id love to see this move happen

i dont see how any of those three being discussed should have "top prospect" anywhere near their names....

although i had heard mat gamels name attached to crede before, but if they moved braun to the OF, wouldnt Gamel be the next in line to take over 3rd?

As good as Crede is in the field, KW will not send Fields back to AAA. I think Crede will be gone by opening day for whatever KW can get.

Fields hit 23 HR in 100 games last season, he's in the majors to stay. Considering that KW added Quentin yesterday, it appears that the only open spot left in the outfield is center, with Fields locking in at third base. That leaves Crede as the odd man out. Would there be anyone out there crazy enough to accept a Crede-Contreras package? What about this if I'm already thinking up unlikely scenarios
White Sox get: Juan Pierre, Andre Ethier
Dodgers get: Joe Crede, Jose Contreras, Danny Richar, Jerry Owens
The White Sox take on Pierres bad contract because he fills two needs, leadoff hitter and CF, and the Sox get Ethier to share time with Quentin and let Dye rest. The Dodgers get out from under Pierres contract, while adding a third baseman, another starter, a possible Jeff Kent replacement, and a decent 4th outfielder. That would leave the Dodgers more open to making a big trade or to sign Rowand or Andruw Jones
