Cardinals Rumors: Rolen, Tejada, Edmonds
UPDATE, 12-4-07 at 9:38am: Tom Haudricourt confirms that the Brewers will have access to Rolen's medical records. That the Brewers will take a look indicates they are probably serious about Rolen.

Joe Strauss has a new one in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, presumably for the Tuesday morning edition.
- The Cards have already met twice with the Brewers to talk about Scott Rolen. They're providing medical information to the Brewers, and appear flexible on the amount of salary they need to cover. Teams interested in Rolen can speak directly to the third baseman's doctor and surgeon. Strauss confirms the Rangers and Giants as two other interested parties.
- The Rolen deal may hinge on Miguel Cabrera being traded first. The Cards poked their head in but wouldn't part with Colby Rasmus.
- The Cards are likely to create a third base vacancy, so they've been talking to the Orioles about Miguel Tejada.
- As you know, the Cards met with the Padres to discuss Jim Edmonds. The Friars also have their eye on Anthony Reyes. Maybe the Cards can pry Kevin Kouzmanoff loose?
- Aside from the aforementioned Brewers, Orioles, and Padres, John Mozeliak also met with the Mariners today.

Cards don't have the pieces to get Santana. I doubt they want Rolen or his salary...

kouz for edmonds? almost as good as young for edmonds.

probably wouldnt be just edmonds in a deal for kouz but ya that would be a stupid ass trade lol

argh! I would take Rolen over Tejada anyday! Why do we think thats an upgrade. Hopefully we at least wait until the Mitchell report comes out so the asking price for Tejada drops. Did we honestly think we could get Cabrera without giving up Rasmus?

Its an upgrade only because Tejada will actually play the whole season...and no, you couldn't even get Cabrera straight up for Rasmus, let alone without him in the deal.

The only way Tejada is traded to the Cardinals is if a third team is involved.
The Orioles want to go young and the Cardinals have nothing to offer.

I wonder what the interest with Seattle is. They don't need Rolen (or Edmonds, for that matter). Curious.

Cards have to be going after Clay Hensley, a ground ball machine in the Dave Duncan mold and whose stock can't be much higher than Reyes.

Were the Orioles asking for Rausmus and more for Tejada? I would trade Chris Duncan and a mid-level prospect (even though some of our bests are mid-level) for Tejada but that's about it.
