From 40,000 watching you everyday at Wrigley to 4,000 watching you at... wherever the Rays play.

I would have liked him on the cubs bench next year, but if he will get starting time with the rays good for him. Hopefully his power numbers will return a bit and he will have a good season.

I think he was waiting to see what the Cubs were going to do in RF. Not sure if Hendry was considering him for plan B or C if they lost on Fukudome. Now the Cubs announced Fukudome, Floyd had it lined up in Tampa. He did say he wanted to play close to home in Florida.

Solid for the Rays.
Along with Baldelli & Gomes, they should be set at RF & DH next year.

Between Floyd and Baldelli there should be about 100 games on the DL.

Classy guy...but he'll never replace the leadership of Elijah Dukes.

hahah I like it Jared.
I dont expect much...who spends more time on DL? Baldelli or Floyd?

It only took till 4:40pm, but someone finally made me laugh. Bravo, Jared78.

well the good thing for Floyd is that he'll be able to get some at bats at DH. Aside from a brief stay with Boston, Floyd has never had the luxury of playing for an AL team and being able to DH. The Rays can keep his legs fresh and his bat in the line up. With Gomes' ability to mash lefties, he should make a great platoon partner with Floyd.

Getting Floyd is a good move for the Rays. The guy still have decent power, onbase skills and decent speed. In spite of his mediocre numbers the past few years, he gets runs/rbis at almost 100/year clip. That's pretty solid. He should DH and probably not hit vs lefties. Now he'll have that luxury. Kudos to the Rays for another good move. Looking forward to seeing what they can do next year.

Floyd will be a good mentor for the young guys. Perhaps Ward even gave him some good tips on how to be the classy leader from the bench/DH role.

lineup for the Rays should be as follows...
2B Akinori Iwamura
LF Carl Crawford
CF B.J. Upton
1B Carlos Pena
DH Jonny Gomes(lefties)/Cliff Floyd(rightes)
3B Evan Longoria
RF Justin Ruggiano
C Dioner Navarro
SS Justin Bartlett
That's a good line-up paired with Scot Kazmir and James Shields in the rotation and Troy Percival and Al Reyes in the pen, the Rays should put together a solid run.. 82 wins???

82 wins in a division with the Yankees, Redsox and blueJays, no way. Brave Slugga the D-Rays have done a pretty okay job so far this offseason but a team that got 66 wins this year expect maybe 72.

I dunno. You've got to think about the crap that was subtracted off of the Rays roster.
Their infield defense is considerably better than last season.
The worst pitcher in their rotation is replaced by Matt Garza.
The bull-pen is approaching "reasonably-OK". No Rudy Lugo or Shawn Camp.
I think that's more than a 6 game improvement. Again, its not who they brought in, its who they got rid of.
