« Giants Rumors: Lincecum, Tejada, Molina, Fukudome | Main | Nationals Shopping Lopez, Kearns »
UPDATE, 12-3-07 at 9:37pm: Tony Jackson doesn't like this one either. He says the notion of the Dodgers and Rangers talking Blalock trade is false.
FROM 12-3-07 at 1:11pm:
Yahoo's Steve Henson says the Rangers are quietly shopping third baseman Hank Blalock, and they've spoken with the Dodgers. The Dodgers don't have faith in Nomar Garciaparra or Andy LaRoche as third base solutions.
Blalock, 27, earns $5.95MM in 2008 and has a $6.2MM club option for 2009. Blalock missed a lot of time in '07 with shoulder surgery.

What's so bad about LaRoche?

Please allow us loot that wonderful Dodger system, Mr. Colletti.

lol, lets trade Laroche (back problems) for Blalock (Should problems)...but for god measure we can give another prospect to ensure the dodgers get the raw end of the deal.
pointless conversation Ned seems to be having.

What does it take for the Dodgers to play LaRoche? It's like he's hit the glass ceiling or something.
Posted by: FineHamAbounds | December 03, 2007 at 01:21 PM
Kinda surprising, I thought the Rangers had said they weren't going to consider trading him. I would have thought they'd try to rebuild his value.

So, they are not comfortable with LaRoche because he has only posted Willie Mays-like numbers in the minors constantly, a great OBP in his limited ML time, but wasn’t feeling 100% healthy when they decided they wanted to see what he could do… So instead they are looking to trade for a guy who was destroyed by injuries and many feel has steroid questions around his stats? I don’t get this, what is the Dodger problem here ~ why do they have so little faith in one of the best prospects in all of baseball? Everyone drools over him, yet the Dodgers act like he is a cancer…
If this is Jeff Kents doing, well if that’s the reason then I think the Dodgers are on the wrong side of that fence…

I'm still holding out that the Dodgers make a Haren/Blanton and Chavez trade involving LaRoche.

Well, at least if they trade LaRoche and he wins ROY Ned will be gone. Im just joking of course.... kind of.
Kent doesn't have a problem with LaRoche. He didn't even have enough playing time to screw up badly.

blalock is a strikeout machine he was in the top 4 two years in a row 05 06 and in 07 he was hurt. his #'s on the decline. A healthy Tony Abreau could just solve a lot of problems with HR production from the OF and 1b

My prediction is this. The Rangers agree to a sign and trade with Tony Clark. They move him along with Blalock to the dodgers for Matt Kemp, James Loney and Andy Laroache. They then move Pierre to RF, put Tony Clark in center. Move Blalock to first, and extend Nomar for 6/70 just to entertain the guys in the dugout between every pitch when he adjusts his gloves 12 times.

Just let Laroche and Nomar platoon this year. Ease him into the big leagues and have him ready to be the full-time starter in 2009.
Nomar will get hurt at some point anyway...so Laroche will probably be the starter sometime in 2008.
Hank Blalock has had a marked downturn in production. Maybe he was juicing back in the day???

nice post NRMAX88.
I think there might be a position for you in the Dodgers front office.
Posted by: kbrooks2LA | December 03, 2007 at 03:49 PM
Jeff Kent approves of your plan nrmax. Good job.
Posted by: J.L. | December 03, 2007 at 03:57 PM
Is it just me or would Tony Clark actually be better in center defensively than Pierre? NRMAX, you also forgot that Nomar makes some mean carne asada at his charity parking lot BBQ's. That has to be worth a few extra million a year. I hope this rumor is a joke because Hank Blalock makes my penis soft.
Posted by: PurpleStuff | December 03, 2007 at 04:05 PM
Girls also make your penis soft...
Posted by: kbrooks2LA | December 03, 2007 at 04:09 PM
Wow! I think that one crossed the line. Needless to say that if I could post photos of some of the wildabeasts I have gone home with, kbrooks2LA would be exposed as the liar that he is. Rest assured that pretty much ANY girl is capable of keeping me at Cialis-strength after I've had a few cold ones.
