Its official Jim Bowden is the GM of the Washington National ExReds

You guys got to say Bowden is getting the offenseive part of the game better in Washington now he jsut needs to get the pitching part fixed if he can lol

If Bowden was smart he would try to move Austin Kearns for some pitching. Use Dukes in LF, Milledge in CF, Pena in RF

I agree with that. I'd like to see Pena play fulltime. Maybe get a prospect of some sort to coincide with the development of Milledge, Dukes and Zimm.

"If Bowden was smart he would try to move Austin Kearns for some pitching. Use Dukes in LF, Milledge in CF, Pena in RF" that would be the smart move

I disagree. I think Bowden should keep Kearns.
Should be:
LF - Kearns or Dukes
CF - Milledge
RF - Pena
Force Kearns and Dukes to compete for the starting job during spring training. All these comments seem to suggest that Dukes and Milledge will last the whole season. Better to play it safe in case one of them gets injured - or perhaps more likely - suspended.
Nats starting pitching is much deeper than everyone keeps saying, and will surprise the baseball world again this year. If you don't think they were a surprise this year, take a second look at the original expectations, and what was actually accomplished during the season.

As an Indians fan I have to say,
YAY!!! Another year of dodging Boone!!! Whoo-Hoo!!! We’re not stuck with Aaron; we’re not stuck with Aaron!!! Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy; Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!!! Ceeeeeellebrate good times, com’on…do..do..do..do….Let’s celebrate…do..do!!!
…Sorry, just had to get that out of my system. Please, continue your conversation…

Umm..Nats will still stink. Bowden doesn't get the pitching part of the game that's why he was run out of Cincinnati. Keep stocking up on those "5-tool" players there Bowden (aka leatherpants)!

hahaha I never said we'd win the division. Just that we'd surprise the heck out of people. Our starting pitching really isn't that bad. Yes, it is made up almost entirely - no, wait - entirely (not almost) young and unproven players. Kind of like our outfield.
But you've to start somewhere, and the Kenny Rogers, Curt Schillings, and yes, even the Johan Santanas of the world start off as young, unproven starters.
With a rotation of
Hill
Bergmann
Redding
Patterson
Chico/Lannan/Hanrahan/Clippard/Detwiler
I think the Nats can compete.
If you take out the games pitched by Williams, Speigner and Patterson last year (all in the first month) the national's win-loss and era all VASTLY improve.

I think Bowden's philosophy is "if we don't have any pitchers, we don't have anyone who surrenders runs..."
He sure lives by it.

Any chance we can get Griffey Jr off you guys? And how come you didn't give Jorge Cantu a chance? That guy is a hit machine! Maybe the Nats will get him. They can put him at short -- he can't be worse that Felipe Lopez. Or maybe at 2nd. They can have the worst middle inf in the NL.

hahaha thats priceless...that was just about the exact image i had in my head when i made that comment

yah sure thing tos...i also heard that Jose Rijo may be makin another comeback after he recieves his HOF vote again this year...rumor has it hes goin to the nationals...
heck the reds are inducting Larkin into their HOF this year...but since hes workin for the nationals already as a scout, that should be an easy transition to SS or 2B...

Done!
Posted by: toshiro | December 06, 2007 at 04:09 PM
Does Bowden realize that these guys didn't work when he had them before? Ok, THAT was a stupid question. Consider it rhetorical.
Aaron Boone gives the Nats another 5-10 losses that they couldn't afford to part with and well, quite frankly, in my opinion, rendered them the official losers in the offseason regardless of who else they acquire.
