If a person has a name, O-Dog has given them a nick-name.

If the Giants can get McPherson to sign a minor league contract, that would be great.

Oh come on. This Arod-Boras crap is turning into a celebrity couple fluff story. How long until the Sun throws up "A-Rod to Boras: 'I never really loved you'" on the front page?

5% of 305 million is quite enough to keep Boras afloat for a while.

Count me in to be rooting for Javy this Spring! He just turned 37 and might still have enough in him to provide a capable back-up to McCann behind the plate. It would surely help to be in his element with Atlanta, in a year where they're going for it all.
On that note, for 2 years and $20mm, Mike Cameron would be a huge defensive boost in CF for the Brave, a solid offensive presence at the bottom of the lineup and an ideal stopgab before their younger guys are ready to take over.
Not that Mike or Javy are the essential pieces they need for an NL East run but in the right situation, along with a healthy Mike Hampton, they could certainly help.

Seriously, I hate to keep running with this, but the Braves have me genuinely excited for 2008. I have a team I root for in every division (Braves, Astros, PADRES, Red Sox, Indians, A's) and my NL teams all have solid chances of upsetting the respective favorites in their division, which is more exciting to me then when they're runaway favorites. They tend to fight harder.
In case it isn't obvious, anything I contribute on these boards comes from an extremely subjective approach...

Cameron would most definatley be an ideal stopgap in center for Jordan Schafer, but it appears that he'll be ready sooner than 2010, and likely he should be ready for a September call-up this year, taking over as the starter in 2009. I think Atlanta would prefer a one year stopgap, which is why they got Josh Anderson just in case, but Cameron would be a reasonable signing, as long as its 2 years or less i can see it.

Yeah, I remember Javy Lopez's great season. He really CREAMed the ball CLEAR out of the ballpark.

aha... I was trying to think of something clever about Javy and his "suspicious" numbers, but that was better than anything I could think of.
I hope you're not Jeff Kent.
