It takes a special type of person (see stupid) to suggest the Sox are only involved in Santana to drive up the price for the Yankees.
I mean, thats all they did with Matsuzaka right? the didn't really want him either.
Beckett, Matsuzaka, Santana, all high end pitchers under 30. Its the direction the team is going for.
Oh, and THEN, you have to explain why the Sox still have the best offer on the table for Santana if they don't really want him. In fact, Lester package, Ellsbury package, the two best offers on the table.

quintjs, what are you talking about? LENIII said "This is NOT about the Red Sox keeping Santana away from the Yankees or making the Yankees drive up the price." (emphasis mine) He drives home the point that the Sox DO want Santana.

Interesting to see the Brewers signing another roids guy. Maybe Gagne needed another supplier.

Not that I believe it for a second, but Charley Walterss claims in an article on twincities.com (Pioneer Press) that "there's buzz that the Santana trade could be made within days."

Don't believe that. Charley Walters is an idiot. He and Sid Hartman are jokes in the Cities.

I did say "Not that I believe it for a second". Even if I trusted Walters's word (which I don't), I won't believe anything I hear about Santana until ink is on contract.

I love how the Red Sox think they have the best rotation. They have Beckett, Schilling, Matsuaka, Wakefield, Lester. Give me a break not even close! The Indians and Angels have the best rotations. I mean I'll give the Red Sox Beckett. Please tell me that Schilling and Matsuaka are better than Escobar, Weaver; Carmona, Bryd or Westbrook. Uh no. The Indians have the best one-two punch by a hair over the Angels. The Angels have a better back end though. Red Sox fans please shut up about your rotation. You have a great offense though. I wil give you that.

I was making the same point that article made, only with more anger.
angels fan, I think you forgot Buchholz...
And the fact you name 5 RS pitchers, 3 angels, proves the point about depth.
Same thing with the Indians, best 1-2 in baseball, not so great 3-5.

the sox dont have the best rotation in baseball, but is certainly in the top 5 or so. the sox have the best all-around team, solid roatation, superb hitting, bullpen and defense. they dont stand out in one area, but they certainly dont lack anywhere either, which is why they won last year, the machine never broke down

thats to bad, i wish gabe came back to the sox

"I mean, thats all they did with Matsuzaka right? the didn't really want him either."
I heard some whispers last year that if the Redsox knew that the Mets were the highest bidder after them, they would have let him go to queens, and that they made the signing thinking they were also keeping him away from the Yankees, but who knows.

@djskilbr
What's with the Kapler accusations? That's complete BS. The guy is in better shape than anybody in baseball, and he always has been.
He's a tremendous asset for any team, on and off the field. Good luck!
