« Padres Checked In On Maybin | Main | Kosuke Fukudome Rumors: Wednesday »
Marc Lancaster says there's a 50/50 chance the Rays make some kind of deal before leaving Nashville. He thinks it could be the right fielder or utility guy they're after.
There hasn't been much trade buzz around the Rays lately, though Marc Topkin speculated on Josh Hamilton today.

Hmm this is really vague. Would the Rays really want Hamilton back? They probably wouldn't wanna give up much for him. Maybe Edwin Jackson for Hamilton could work.

Maybe its Hamilton for Scott Olson. I think he fell out of favor with some of his off field issues.

Never mind Rays and Marlins always get those to crap teams confused

Chone Figgins or Reggie Willits, maybe?

Would have been nice to mkae a deal for Carlos Quentin, too bad they missed out.
Maybe Luke Scott? A RF outta central Florida that's available.
Doubt they'd work hard to get Hamilton back.

Have you heard what the Angels want for Figgins? Doubt that will happen, and Willits is probably tied up in their trying to get a 3B...
"50/50 chance they may make a deal for something from someone"
...Humm, not sure I really understand posting this until you know a little bit more than that :)

"Here's another interesting possibility as a lefthanded hitter to be acquired in trade - Laynce Nix.
He was designated for assignment on Wednesday by the Brewers, which means he is very available."

Sounds about right, not a big splash but a good move if we don't give up much

How did Hamilton go from untouchable at last year's deadline to becoming very touchable??? I mean Edwin Jackson, c'mon.
I would love to bring this guy to the Dodgers. I we're gonna go with the youth movement let's go all the way. Pay the Reds $5MM/yr to take Pierre for Hamilton. I would love to see Hamilton and Pierre patrolling the OF for the next 7 years.

I mean Hamilton "instead" of Pierre for the next 4 years...duh

kbrooks2LA-
Jerry Narron is no longer the manager, and his brother was a mentor to Hamilton in his high school days. And with Freel coming back, Hamilton could benefit the Reds more by being traded away for pitching than riding the bench. They also have the one of the top OF prospects in Jay Bruce.

Uhh Edwin Jackson finished fairly strong last year, pitching in the AL East. Move him to the NL Central and he could probably be a decent 4. and its not like Josh Hamilton is some incredible player. The guy played well last year, but he's still only a year removed from being out of baseball for years. If the Reds do end up moving Hamilton, it'll be for pitching and only for pitching. Their offense will be very good with Griffey, Phillips, Dunn, Encarnacion, Bruce, etc.
And why the hell would the Reds want Juan Pierre. The guy sucks at everything but running and hitting some singles. If you move Pierre, its gonna be for a different, awful contract, like Padilla.
