« Santana Aftermath | Main | Odds and Ends: Helms, Bako, Crisp »
I want to do regular Wednesday mailbags, but skipped last week's. Sorry 'bout that. Submit your mailbag questions to mlbtraderumors@gmail.com. Just to mix it up let's keep the questions Johan/Bedard/Roberts-free this week.

When will the Q&A with Evan Grant be posted?

With Santana finally traded what options do the Twins have with Nathan? It is clear we probably won't be in contention this year so do you see the Twins trying to trade Nathan as well before the season starts? I have read elsewhere that closers have the highest value midseason, so do you see the Twins waiting until the deadline to unload him? Worse case scenario for me is seeing if the Twins contend (I.E Liriano is back, Kubel, Young, Gomez break out and Cuddy, Morneau, Mauer regain 2006 form) and holding on to Nathan all season. Even then we will end up with 2 draft picks. Your thoughts? Thank you

What day had the highest readership so far this offseason (yesterday)?
How many visitors?

With the Mets now in solid grasp of Santana, do you see either the Braves or the Phillies making another move to bolster up their rotation, or do you feel that each team is set?
Thanks- Shawn, Tennessee

There seems to be more of a trend lately for teams to step up and extend key players before they reach free agency. Will this trend continue, and will the FA market at the end of 2008 end up looking as bare as the past market was? Does the Player's Association have any concerns with this trend and the effect it could have on salaries (if any)?

Why have the Indians not done anything to improve on the hitting side. I understand Mark Shapiro has been very hesitant to trade any young talent, especially seeing how well Brandon Phillips is playing after getting every chance in Cleveland, but the Indians' opportunity is right now.
By stockpiling the minor leagues, they should do anything they can to go out and get a power hitting, right handed, corner outfielder like Jason Bay who would fit great on the team.
Why haven't the Indians done this.

With Johan Santana out of Minnesota, which young SP is likely to benefit most with a rotation spot?

Aside from Bedard and Roberts, are any of the O's veterans tradable? If the O's are rebuilding it would be nice to let the veterans move on and get some of the kids more playing time. It seems, however, that most of the O's veterans have negative trade value at this point due to there contracts or poor performance. Can the O's salvage any value or would they simply be looking for salary dumps with these guys?

Do you think the Reds will try to a land a proven starter still? It appears trading for Bedard is no longer even possible. I think they would still be looking for a PROVEN starter despite signing Jeremy Affeldt whom I believe belongs in the bullpen.
Do you think the Reds will make any trades or have a run at FA? Or will they still put?
I would sure like to see something go down
