« Wilkerson Signs With Mariners? | Main | Radio Appearances »
Found via South Side Sox: MLB.com's Jim Street reports that the White Sox and Angels have expressed interest in Carl Everett. Presumably that would be minor league deal type interest.
What's Carl been up to? The 36 year-old DH posted a .657 OPS for the '06 Mariners, his last appearance in the bigs. Last year he put up an MVP-caliber season...with the Long Island Ducks. Jeff Pearlman informed us last June that "In eight seasons of Ducks baseball, a mere four players -- Carlos Baerga, Pedro Borbon Jr., Bill Pulsipher and Ken Ray -- have gone from Long Island to the majors."

Now what in the world would the Angels do with him?
OF/1B/DH depth chart:
…Vlad/Hunter/Anderson/Mathews/Kotchman/Moralas/Rivera/Quinlan/Willits…
Right now, the last two are probably hard pressed to make the club as it is. What would Everett possibly bring outside of probable attitude? Even on a Minor-League deal, I think its sketchy on the Angels part...

“It’s nice for the younger guys to come here and watch how they work for the season,” said manager Dave LaPoint, the former Ducks pitching coach who returned to Long Island following a one-year stint leading the Bridgeport Bluefish. “I’m sure it’s a thrill for everybody to watch Carl. He hits the ball farther than anyone I’ve ever seen.”
Unless Lapoint kept his eyes closed for most of his major league career, that's just untrue.

Someone had to do it...might as well be me...reason why Carl Everett should go in the Awesome(ly retarded) HOF
* Carl Everett on dinosaurs?
"Didn't exist. God created the sun, the stars, the heavens and the earth, and then made Adam and Eve. The Bible never says anything about dinosaurs. You can't say there were dinosaurs when you never saw them. Someone actually saw Adam and Eve. No one ever saw a Tyrannosaurus rex."
Carl Everett on the abundance of excavated dinosaur bones:
"Made by man."
Carl Everett on the July 20, 1969 Moon landing by Neil Armstrong:
"Yeah, that could have happened. It's possible. That is something you could prove. You can't prove dinosaurs ever existed. I feel it's far-fetched."
Carl Everettisms are great

I am a batboy for the LI Ducks, Carl Everett is a great man and still has talent left. I hope the best for him and I hope he makes it back to the majors. ( He and Edgardo Alfonzo.)

yanksin08. How does Fonzie look down there? He is one of my favorite players of all time. It was sad to see him decline so soon, his back just looked completely shot. Great hitter though.

he was pretty good, not as great as I thought he could be. He was signed by the Rangers to a minor league contract. Godd luck to him.

Carl Everett/White Sox?
It's not April 1 yet is it?
Posted by: Andrew Cabiness | January 28, 2008 at 05:07 PM
seriously, what in the world are the Angels thinking???
the last thing we need right now is another old outfielder.
unless they're looking at putting him at 3B, thent his is pointless.

Kenny will probably toss the Ducks a few prospects for him too. Just for old times sake.

Kenny loves bringing back Carl Everett and anyone with the last name of Alomar.

Didn't Everett and Williams get into some stupid newspaper word war after 2005? I can't see Williams' pride letting this happen.

am i the only one that read on fox sports that there is a rumor about crede for chad billingsley and juan pierre?

Jim Street is retarded. The White Sox have zero interest in Everett.
Love that he helped us in 05, but for saying we had no clubhouse leaders on a team that was full of guys like that, screw him.

Billingsley for Crede? That's almost as awful as Everett coming to the Angels. I couldn't think of a worse match up.

Can you imagine any reason the White Sox would want to sign Carl Everett? What would he add besides a poor clubhouse presence and another slow baserunner?
