« Tim On No Bias Baseball | Main | What's Next For Brian Anderson? »
Ah, Brian Roberts. The Cubs' talks with the Orioles have stagnated, though the O's still watched a slimmed-down Sean Gallagher on Sunday. Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times still thinks it gets done by Opening Day.
For now I just have a tidbit to add from the esteemed Peter Gammons in Saturday's blog:
The Cubs will eventually get Brian Roberts. Andy MacPhail has to decide whom he wants. But the Cubs are convinced it will happen.

Sorry. I'm bored and all the threads suck right now.

...so I'll reveal my grand master plan for what the O's should do AFTER the Roberts deal! (laughing maniacally and rubbing my palms together) Crazy-a$$ speculation patent pending.
1)Around the trade deadline, Arizona will be neck and neck with Colorado and LA in the NL West (didn't know I was also a psychic did you?). The D'backs, missing a lefty arm out of their bullpen (which is true- they're only southpaw is Doug Slaten, who is hurt- for how long I'm not sure, but I think it's significant) and hurt by their reliance on SO many young players are desperate to deal for that final piece or two that will ensure their dynasty in the desert. So, McPhail pops his head in and says, 'Oh, hey Josh Byrnes! I was in the neighborhood and wondered if you might want either Jamie Walker or George Sherrill (pretty good lefty 'pen arms) and Aubrey Huff (who- and here I'm going out on a limb no wider than a twig- has gotten off to a hot start) and a young arm to fill the rotation spot opened when Randy Johnson inevitably goes down- and who can remain in the rotation with Webb, Haren, and Owings over the next couple years while you make your run...think Gallagher (if we get him) or Albers or Olson or Penn (one of them) AND another lesser prospect- David Hernandez perhaps?- FOR Chris Snyder (who, by then will have been supplanted as starting catcher by Miguel Montero), Conor Jackson/Chad Tracy/Mark Reynolds- whoever is the odd man out (at this point, looks like Tracy, but I'd rather have Jackson or Reynolds) and Jarrod Parker. You could also replace the Tracy/Jackson/Reynolds part with a couple prospects like Cyle Hankerd and Mark Hallman (or whatever the mid-INF prospects name is). Then, 2) we stop in at Theo Epstein's house and flip Snyder- an excellent young defensive catcher with a little pop, who can take over for 'tek- Jeremy Guthrie (good and young, but at 28/29, doesn't seem to figure into O's long-term plans- plus he fills hole in middle of Sox rotation created by Schilling injury), Jay Gibbons (this IS a crazy a$$ fantasy, I told you), and the OTHER bullpen arm (Sherrill/Walker) for a host of secondary Red Sox prospects (not the premiere guys- Buchholtz, Ellsbury, or even Masterson) like Jed Lowrie (pretty much blocked), Nick Hagadone (gotta get a good arm), Ryan Kalish/Lars Anderson (big bat), Chris Carter (he's blocked anyway), and a fifth, lesser guy. What'd'ya think?!!! Am I off my f$&^*&in' rocker or what?! On second thought, don't answer that. I know. (weeping and walking into the sunset). I know.

Anything is possible Mile. I would be hoping for anyone but Tracy there too by the way, I think the others would be a better choice. I also believe Sherrill, if he does well as closer, will be a huge pickup for a team like...the Cubs or Dbacks, who are contending teams in need of a good lefty arm in the bullpen. Thats why Hendry should just see what it takes now...although McPhail may be in full R@ping mode...so maybe he did and thats why it wasn't ever mentioned again. All I know is Micah Haufwhatever is looking like he is ready for the bigs...seems like the O's might be able to use a guy like that if Weiters stays a catcher. What do you think MIle? Not straight up for Sherrill obviously...but what about even in a Roberts deal as a throw in? Maybe he could be that 5th player?

Yet another thread where darkstar only stops posting his BS when faced with the reality of his wrong choice. He literally CANNOT admit he was wrong. Mile, do you see what I mean now?? His ego is so big that he can't step up, be a man, and eat his crow. Pathetic loser
