According to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, Jeff Conine, a holder of a number of Marlins' records and nicknamed "Mr. Marlin," will reportedly be signed to a one-day contract on March 28th and then retire.
Conine, who was with the team for their two World Series titles, will be honored on the field during the Marlins season opener versus the Mets at Dolphin Stadium on March 31st. It is rumored that the Marlins have not ruled out bringing Conine back to the club as an advisor.

Good. I'm glad Niner gets to retire a Marlin. I enjoyed watching him play when he was an Oriole. And if I was manager I'd have Conine at 1B Coach with Surhoff as 3B Coach. Those guys would teach the young O's kids how to play the game right.

pretty solid career...only 18 hits shy of 2000...and he called it quits with the right team...I am sure a lot of O's fans appreciate him as well, but he will be remembered most as a Marlin...

I hated Conine so much...but I'm a Cubs fan so I guess that's a respectful hate.

Yup. Conine was a 2 time WS Champ with the Marlins. He played part of 5 seasons with the O's. He never hit 20 HR or drove in 100 as an Oriole. But he was a great baseball player. He did it all the right way.

Nice to see that he will be able to retire as a Marlin. It's only fitting.
