The feature that links all the other videos at the end is pretty neat. Nice work Tim.

Thanks for the latest edition of the video mailbag Tim. I gotta ask though...what exactly is that remote control looking thing in your shirt pocket??
Posted by: dbacksbuzz | March 27, 2008 at 01:46 PM
I love the video mailbags, they allow us to actually accountable for info, but personally i don't see the Padres going for Murton, mainly cause they have enough league avg. bats.

All production credit goes to Mike Barnett at DoublePlay TV, he's doing nice work.
I bought a wireless mic and tried it out this time. Sound quality was improved because of it, that's what's on my shirt. Tried it in my pocket and attached to my belt and was disappointed because it didn't sound as good. It's bluetooth.

Yeah...I filmed this before the Pads picked up Huber...I think that decreases the chances at least somewhat.

I think They kinda already have Cabrera in Wandy Rodriguez both are power pichers tha lack control and both leave their teams fans alternately salivating and despairing over their talent

no farewells? no sign offs at the end of the video? where's the love tim?
Posted by: 510hope | March 27, 2008 at 02:34 PM
Would the Cubs want Steve Kline since Eyre is out?
Basically just a salary dump for Giants...nothing needed in return.

I'm still curious why the 1980 Topps design on the baseball cards that feature today's players....any particular reason? I love the retro baseball card look so it caught my eye again today.

Thanks for using my question, Tim. Those mailbags own.

cell phone hanging out the breast pocket much? lol jk
Posted by: morandjp | March 27, 2008 at 03:36 PM
If I'm the Astros, and the Orioles offered me Cabrera for Loretta, I'd take that in an instant. He's better than everyone on that staff not named Roy Oswalt and has more upside to boot.

Only three questions? I was looking for at least 15 minutes! :-) I do like the feature though.
Back at the top of the post list? Was it updated?
Posted by: WhiteSoxFan | March 27, 2008 at 03:59 PM
Wasnt updated, just wanted to give it a longer top of the page exposure (DoublePlay TV works hard on these for free). This one was a little on the short side though.

The 1980 Topps Card photos are being used on the MLB website as part of their fantasy rankings. I"m assuming MLBTR took them from there.

Great job again Tim, I love the music, it sounds like something from a cheesy love scene or something!

Posted by: BrianTX | March 27, 2008 at 06:02 PM
how bout scott schoenweis for matt murton or felix pie and mets eat half of shows salary
Posted by: iknowtomuch | March 27, 2008 at 09:32 PM
How about Jim Hendry laughs into the phone then slams it down..?
Posted by: scribbletone | March 27, 2008 at 09:49 PM
How about Ruben Gotay and Scott Schoenweis for Matt Murton and Jason Marquis?
The Cubs get the lefty reliever they need, and 2nd base depth.
The Mets get the righthanded OF they sorely need, and a real #5 starter
Wouldn't that work?

I waited a good 6 hours to wait for someone else to say this but...You couldn't go two minutes without mentioning Brian Roberts name could you? Besides that great job in the small amt of time you had, and I look forward to the new additions/improvements.

If the Astros could get Daniel Cabrera for Mark Loretta, then they would do that immediately. They have a god awful rotation, trotting out there Oswalt, Rodriguez, Backe, Sampson and Chacon. At this point Cabrera would arguably be their number 2 starter, and his stuff is still pretty nasty. When you get the chance to acquire someone with that kind of ceiling, even if its highly unlikely that he'll reach it, for a bench player on an already pretty good offensive team, you have to do it. If Ed Wade turns down a Loretta for Cabrera offer, after signing Matsui to that dumb 4 year contract, then someone should beat him in the face, because he must have a crush on second baseman or something.
Posted by: scribbletone | March 28, 2008 at 09:35 AM
Wandy Rodriguez is NOT a power pitcher. Cabrera throws far from max effort at 97 mph. Rodriguez throws 90 mph. I'm not saying who is the better pitcher overall. I'm just pointing out that the "power" part of "power pitcher" specifically refers to velocity.
Posted by: basemonkey | March 28, 2008 at 09:40 AM
Hyro,
The Cubs don't actually need a second baseman; they need a lead-off man. They've already got plenty of guys who can play second and hit at least as well as Ruben Gotay. Strictly speaking, they really don't need a lefty reliever, either ... Marshall or Pignatiello will give them at least as much as Schoenweis would.
This would be a horrible trade for the Cubs, one that I'd like to think they'd never do.
Posted by: MikeMeyer | March 28, 2008 at 09:42 AM
Cabrera throws wild gas at 95-98 mph. The Os aren't going to trade him for Loretta. So let that die here. All indications out of Baltimore was that MacPhail was looking into Loretta several weeks ago because he was blocked and was hoping to land him without giving up much.
Posted by: basemonkey | March 28, 2008 at 09:43 AM
basemonkey, thats what i thought about the Loretta deal too.
Posted by: scribbletone | March 28, 2008 at 10:00 AM
yeah definitely never meant to imply Loretta for Cabrera straight up

"how bout scott schoenweis for matt murton or felix pie and mets eat half of shows salary
