I don't see how the Baltimore trade looks that good? The centerpiece of the deal was injured.

Albers and Sarfate looking great, Luke Scott raking.

Is Deeds a corner outfielder? His numbers don't look to bad, except for last year, was he hurt? A little bit of pop (not enough if he's a corner guy though), nice OBP. Maybe he could be a PH/5th outfielder type.

i've been telling my o's fan friends ever since the trade that that was a good one. the fact that they were able to move an overpriced veteran to start the rebuilding process was the biggest key, but getting several useful players in return to provide depth for that rebuilding system... that was the icing on the cake.

Criticizing a bad team with a bad GM? Inconceivable.

Really, I think that (so far, at least) the Tejada trade worked for both teams.
Scott was redundant after obtaining Bourn. Albers hadn't done much of anything in his time in Houston. The 'Stros basically bought Sarfate from Milwaukee and though he had good stuff, he hadn't been able to put it together yet. Costanzo has a lot of power but still couldn't crack a Phillies lineup that was throwing Wes Helms out there every day. And the door is still out on Patton.
Tejada may not be the guy he was a few years ago but is still an elite shortstop and brings an energy to the Astros that they have not had in a long time.
And Arod, Wade may suck, but it's hard to criticize him for the moves he's made so far. Drayton McLane wasn't gonna let him rebuild, and he at least saw that the team the Astros put out there in '07 wasn't gonna cut it. I haven't liked every move he's made either, but he's trying new things, which is more than Purpura would have ever done.

Tim Lahey was returned to the Twins today, he'll be in Rochester.

Too bad about Doug Deeds getting traded. He actually lived in Rochester all year round and loved the city. Seemed like a good guy to have on the Red Wings. Good luck in Chicago

He related to Longfellow Deeds?

Tejada an elite short stop,LOL!Tejada should be at 3rd base.As far as Patton being the center piece of the deal. He's young and there's no rush. The O's have plenty of young arms and patton healthy still wouldn't of made the 25 man roster. Then you have Albers and Sarfate have been solid early on and Scott looks good.I have to say never would I ever expected the return that Balt. was able to receive for Tedaja. Astos have a big hole in pitching and I hope they are able to score 8 to 9 runs a game to compete.Don't bet on the astros having more wins then the O's when it's the end of the season either. Astros won't contend then Tedaja will start cring once agian and be unhappy.I'm glade he's gone and the 12 mil. is some one elses problem now.Good luck houston.
