Braves Acquire Greg Norton

The Braves just put out a press release; they've acquired Greg Norton from the Mariners for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Norton, 35, certainly didn't do anything wrong with the Mariners.  He was 7 for 16 with a couple of doubles before they DFA'd him.  He's a solid switch-hitting bench bat, a nice pickup for Frank Wren.  We might be able to give Norton a mulligan for his off-year in '07; he was coming off knee surgery and finished the year with elbow surgery.

I like this very much, as he gives us the desired pop that we wanted of the bench that bryan pena just is not providing. Plus, he came cheap, so overall an awesome move by the braves, and hopfully norton will continue his hitting throughout the year.

Seems like a very solid move. Sucks losing prado as he has filled in very nicely when needed. Maybe now lillibridge will get some more playtime during this span and give a lil boost to his trade value.

Can't complain about this one. Norton seems to have 20 or so HR power if he were given a full season of ABs, so that should mean some good pop off the bench, and he can take a walk. Corner IF and OF ability too.
