« With Moss Out, Wilkerson Could Be An Option For Red Sox | Main | Pirates Hope To Retain Meek »
Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch suggests that Anthony Reyes' demotion to the Triple A rotation increases his trade value. Interested teams view him as a starter, and want to see him in that role before acquiring him.
Last week, ESPN's Jayson Stark heard rumblings that the Cards want "an upper echelon prospect back, plus another piece." Reyes, 26, has shown flashes of brilliance but has a 5.41 career ERA in 219.2 innings. He just seems fixable, is all.

If Reyes is fixable, it is not with the Cards. Personally, I cringe everytime he comes in. I thought the bullpen was the answer for him, but he is still lousy despite the kudos given by Cards management. I've seen every game he pitched on TV and he is a mistake waiting to happen and it usually does. That being said, he has done his best this year. I hope someone can right him. Good luck, good bye.

It is strange that for all the good Duncan has done with virtual nobodies, and all the success he has had over the years with players that other teams just dont want, that a somewhat highly touted guy with some upside like Reyes cant find himself under Duncan. I guess there are exceptions to every rule.

I cannot source this claim, perhaps it was from posters on this site, but I believe Duncan and Reyes have had their share of turbulance with each other due to a question of mechanics. With that being said, I would not mind adding A. Reyes to the braves equation, but he is certainly not worth lillibridge or another highly touted prospect.

And I am not say that lillibridge is highly touted at all, just pointing out that if reyes is not worth lillibridge, a more highly touted braves prospect is definately not even worth discussing.

I watched A Reyes on TV Saturday, and as a Braves fan, I say no thanks.
He is no better than at least 3 guys we can run out there now at the back end: Jo-Jo Reyes, Chuck James, Jeff Bennett (and probably Morton too).
Above all - A Rey worked sooo slooowww on the mound. Roaming around like John Smoltz with shoulder spasms. Instills no confidence at all. I know that's a pretty "unscientific" analysis, but it just made me NOT want him on my team.

“He just seems fixable, is all.”
…Yeah, just like Marquis is fixable…
…Not saying it wont happen, but you do have to question a guy who can go down to AAA and dominate on queue but Walks/Hits batters like its nothing in the bigs. Since the struggling with control/command has taken place in StL, a place where pitchers generally have a good track record of getting straightened out ~ well…

I bet Reyes will be awesome for another team. just like dan haren he had a 11 era with the cards look at him now. Duncan isnt good with young talent.

Where'd you get the 11 ERA with Dan Haren? His highest ERA was 5.05. Anthony Reyes seems like he could succeed elsewhere because his style of pitching is not Duncan's.

I could see a Lillibridge for Reyes deal. The Braves need some starting help and Reyes could potentially provide that. There can be no doubt that the Cards would ask for Lillibridge, and he really isn't all that valuable. Considering that the Braves have Escobar at short, Johnson in center, and both Jordan Schafer and Gorkys Hernandez in center long term, I think that Lillibridge is pretty expendable. There aren't many great starting options out there and Reyes probably has some of the highest upside of them all.
