Lofton would be better than Edmonds.

What about Bonds to the Cubs to play RF instead of Lofton? I know there is lots of Bagage but 100 years? Whos Cares!!!

Wouldn't Lofton play CF with Fukudome in RF?
If Bonds was signed, I could see him playing LF or RF, with Fukudome in CF. He's the big left handed power bat the Cubs are looking for.
Bonds vs Soriano
Who acquiesces to play a different position first?
Who has the bigger "superstar" attitude problem?
Would Bonds demand that the Cubs bat him third like Soriano is doing with batting leadoff?

Yes Lofton would play CF, Bonds would be RF moving Fukudome to CF. Soriano has stated that he will bat anywhere in the lineup, wherever he is needed. He is batting leadup because with the lineup we have thats where he is helping the most. Bringing in Bonds would certainly change the lineup a lot Probably moving Fukudome to 2nd in the order. It may look something like this:
Soriano
Fukudome
Lee
Bonds
Ramirez
Soto
Theriot
DeRosa
Theriot could also bat leadoff and moving Soriano to 6th moving everyone down one spot.
This is just an idea I had just wanted to see what people think. Its a way of getting a left handed power bat without trading anyone.

Kenny Lofton makes way too much sense for the Padres.
Once Justin Huber is DFA'd for Chase Headley, Paul McAnulty can get sent to the chopping block for Lofton, leaving Hairston & Gerut as the reserves; both of who are capable of backing up Lofton.
That's my plan for helping SD's offense and putting guys on base for Adrian & Kevin's HR's.
Lofton (Hairston & Gerut)
Iguchi
Giles
Gonzalez
Kouzmanoff
Headley
Greene
Barrett
If Headley heats up, he could take over for Giles, shifting Giles to the 2 slot and pushing Iguchi down to the bottom of the order. Or, if Iguchi continues to struggle, here's a trade to consider:
Randy Wolf for Mark Loretta + a prospect.
Could baseball's worst team make a comeback as early as this season? I sure hope so...

Too bad that Lofton did not accept the Rays offer when they were rumored to have made it. I think he would have been interesting on that team.
