PtB is likely leaving town after this season, so I think the Phills should hold on to Victorino. Plus, Werth is likely going to fall back to earth.

Considering Eddie Perez is a coach now and the last time him and Paul Byrd met was when Eddie hit him in the face with his mitt, I wouldn't expect Paul to return to Atlanta as part of the team. I want to say last time they had him, he wasn't liked all that much.

I gotta agree that trading Victorino may not be wise. While I think Werth may keep up a decent chunk of production, relying on Geoff Jenkins would be idiotic. Then again, this is a team coached by Charlie Manuel, the man who gave the world Russell "The Muscle" Branyan.
As for trading Byrd, I am all for it, but only if it can bring something solid at 3B or RF/LF (I also think they should just let Francisco stay up since he is hitting. Out of the teams listed by Rosenthal what would be the legitimate return for Byrd that wasn't prospects?

Reasons to think about trading Vic:
1) Doesn't seem to be developing plate discipline as a hitter
2) Recurring calf injuries for a player whose game is centered around speed...not likely to go away
3) Werth playing too well to keep off the field
Reasons to hang onto him:
1) Plus defense in center or right, with plus arm
2) Brings palpable energy to the lineup, above what his statistic indicate
3) Neither Jenkins nor Werth seem capable of putting up average numbers positionally playing every day. Werth could in center, but his defense there is adequate at best. A platoon of the two, however, gives probably an above average RF, each with above average RF D
So I would probably hold onto him, although I do fear that these calf injuries will pop up again this year

Paul Byrd is a HUGE hypocrite. I hope that he stays in Cleveland because with his stats as they presently are, he is due to revert to his norm anytime now. When that happens he will be torched worse than the river outside Cleveland.

And what river "outside" Cleveland would that be, Horatio? Moron.
