"after todays outing vs the Sox i think id pass on Homer bailey"
...a single game can dictate whether you would like a player or not?
That being said, the Braves need more proven pitching than prospects and his name is illogical for Atlanta unless they were selling off pieces.

that was just my opinion dark...but wasnt Homer considered someone the reds were going to build the rotation around for years to come? and now hes no better then a 4th starter i think

Uhh Homer Bailey is 22. He's still got a lot of projection left in him. He's been a top 15 prospect in all of baseball for the past two years (according to BA) and still has that massive potential. How can you just think he's now no better than a 4th starter? He may not be right now, but in four years he might be the next Josh Beckett.

In four years I might have gotten a hummer from Scartlett Johansen. That is only slightly less likely than Homer Bailey becoming the next Josh Beckett.

am i not allowed to have an opinion? thats wat i think...but i guess if ur opinion sucks to wat scribble thinks.you shouldnt say anything..

Scribble isn't saying you are wrong(opinion can't be wrong or right), the fact is almost a year ago Bailey was being projected as a future ace. A straight up number 1 guy and with under 15 games played in(a chunk of them while injured) he's being called a bottom feeder.
It seems that Bailey just needs to go back to triple A and continue working on location and holding runners. He still doesn't seem ready for the majors yet.

At no point did I attack anything that you said, Larsen. It's called DISAGREEING. I'm just saying that this is a guy who has been called a potential ace for the past years, and its still no different now despite his struggles in the majors this year.
"In four years I might have gotten a hummer from Scartlett Johansen. That is only slightly less likely than Homer Bailey becoming the next Josh Beckett."
And this, this is just a waste of time. Was that just like the dumbest thing you could possibly think of saying? It worked.. Bailey is easily capable of becoming the next Beckett. He's the stuff to do it, and all he's gotta do is put it together at the MLB level.
Do people think that its like an accident or something that Bailey has been a top 10 prospect in BA's Top 100 list the past two years?

I think the chances of the Braves retaining Mark Teixeira is about the same as Smoltz throwing a no hitter this year. Tex production is not all that great either this year. So I dont understand why the Braves would not want to try to unload him before the deadline when they could get the most for him. I don't see his loss as being that big for the Braves. I could see Chipper being moved to First base move Escobar to 3rd and call up one of the young SS either one playing at triple A right now is capable of playing at the big league level. Keep B. Jones and Anderson and shop Kotsy he is healty and may draw a good bit of attention for teams needing veteran outfield help.

…I would say that is the case only if you actually know Scarlett Johansen, and somehow slip her some mighty fine drugs... Bailey however has tremendous potential and an opportunity to actually use it ~ the odds of being a top starter are still better than him being a back-of-rotation type… Is it a guerentee? Of course not ~ but its still a strong possibility…

How exactly will the Braves get a 'young, controllable pitcher' if they're buyers? Don't you typically get 'young, controllable pitchers' by selling ML talent, like, say, Teixeira?

the braves traded multiple high ceiling prospects for texeria less than a year ago. why whould they trade him again now, for basically what they just traded away to get him?
texeria has not put huge numbers, but chipper jones ridiculous numbers cant be completely unrelated to the protection he's provided that no one else on the team can or has provided since andruw forgot how to make contact.
hampton's bad contract comes off the books, and who knows maybe smoltz and glavine are done too. re-signing him doesnt seem out of the question.
any team looking to unload controllable pitching is going to be looking for controllable hitting... tex doesnt fit that mold.

teixeira that is.

Getting some return for Tex at the dead line is better than watching him walk away for nothing when he enters the free agent market at the end of the year. With all the teams out there looking for a big bat he could pull heavy interest and quality players in return.

Yes he does provide some protection for Chipper but that could be provided by other players. Other teams are already pitching around him to get to Tex because they know Tex is the easier out.
