From Buster Olney's blog today:
Heard this: Stephen Strasburg, the hard-throwing right-hander at San Diego State who is expected to be among the very top picks in the 2009 draft, has selected Scott Boras to be his advisor.
Dave Cameron wrote about Strasburg at FanGraphs on Friday. If the season ended today, the first four picks in '09 would go to the Mariners, Rockies, Nationals, and Royals. None of these clubs seem particularly Boras-phobic, and the Mariners and Royals are on good terms with him. I wouldn't expect Strasburg to drop much for financial reasons, but it's way too early to call anything.

Can someone explain to me how NCAA athletes can have agents???? Or do they get away with it by calling them "advisors"?

Boras? Seriously?! Sucks.
Hope the O's trade Roberts, Sherrill, Guthrie, Scott, Walker, and Bradford, lose a ton of games and make Strassburg our second San Diego pitcher in as many years. Dude is supposed to be filthy. How many K's did he have in that one game...20?!

Good article on the topic, not sure if it's subscription required though.

They are advised as far back as junior year of HS, and only become agents after the first contract is signed.

23 and as it says in the article, the best part of that story is that he was purposefully pitching to contact.
