Jays Intend To Keep Halladay

Jays fans needn't worry about losing ace Roy Halladay.  Halladay himself said that.  Team president Paul Godfrey considers Halladay his franchise player, and already has him under contract through 2010 at a below-market rate.

According to Jeff Blair of the Globe and Mail, the Jays are likely to talk about extending Halladay further in the offseason.  The player is open to it, noting that he doesn't want talks to linger into the '09 season.

Best. Pitcher. In. Baseball.

One of the best, on and off the field. Rare to see someone sign below market value.

Much respect for Mr. Halladay. When you figure in the nasty stuff, great control, ability to go deep into ballgames (7 CGs this year!), and taking the ball EVERY fifth day, he just might be the best there is right now. And taking below market to stay somewhere he likes when he could probably get $20 mil a year on the open market is an example I wish more players would follow.

Halladay and Wells should switch contracts......

Im with you all the way J.stuart. Best pitcher in baseball and on top of that an absolute work horse. Probably thge best pitcher I have seen since starting to seriously follow baseball (which was around 97-98ish) besides Pedro in his prime with the Sawx.

Good job Paul Godfrey! Now all you need to do is fire J.P Retardi and we're good to go!
