The Padres want F-MART for Giles??? Are they out of their goddamn mind? Giles, while still a good hitter, is 37 years old, declining, and makes almost $11 million this year and next...
The only guy I would trade F-Mart for is Bay...

Sherman reported the Mets and Padres have not talked about Giles.

Only way F-Mart goes is if it's for Bay.

Brian Giles makes no sense... and I believe this rumor to be hot air...

This was posted yesterday, things I guess could have changed since then.
Giles is making $9 million as a Padre. That $9 million becomes $11 million if he's traded. Why would the Mets go after an expensive player that isn't what they need?

The Tigers pitcher's name is Freddy D-O-L-S-I not Delosi.

I agree that the Mets' best prospect for Giles is a ridiculous rumor that had to get "leaked" by Padres' brass or fans.
Ibanez for a middle tier prospect makes much more sense for the Metropolitans. If the Mets were ever to give up Martinez, they would have to get Matt Holliday back.
When are the Rays going to have the balls to pull off a trade for a reliever or an outfielder? Don't get me wrong, as a Yankees fan, I love the Rays timidness.

The Mariners think that Ibanez will be a type A free agent and are asking a ton for him. He does seem like the mets best option.
What about Carp Moviel and maybe a young low level prospect for Ibanez.

i totally agree that giles is not worth f-mart. the only way f-mart is going to be traded if the mets get holliday or bay in return. but if the mets could get giles for a lesser prospect it would be a good improvement for them. giles has a .395 OBP and would fit well in the 2 hole in the lineup, especially since the mets are unsure on castillos ability to comeback and be the 2 hitter.
i would have rather seen the mets get blake and its too bad that the dodgers picked him up. he wouldve been a good fit for the mets, especially since the indians picked up the majority of blakes salary.

Would be nice to get the Mets and Rays in a bidding war for Bay at the deadline.

metsfan, you are smoking trees! Just plan on life without Ibanez, it'll be easier on you that trying to rationalize a way for us to take your poor man's AA version of Mike Jacob. We could pick up a "Carp" type player for Jose Vidro at this point. You have no idea how to evaluate talent and further more, why would the Mariners trade one of their key trading chips to the Mets for a position we have LaHair, Hubbard, Limonta, and Raben for right now, just to name a few, who are all having as good or better of a season! The Mariner will never take Carp or Evans back as the centerpiece of an Ibanez trade... Look at it this way, Ibanez statistically is equal to or better than Nady in every way except average, but career wise Ibanez track record speaks much stronger for him that he can maintain his numbers or get better. Nady's career says that he's going to fall off over the next two months. The Yankees paid Tabata and Phil Coke for Nady, a Type B player. So bring something better, in fact don't worry about your horrible farm system being stripped bare, Ibanez will go to the D-Backs this week, or nowhere at all...

BaseballGuru, you obviously are the one "smoking trees" because you completely overrate the value of an old, mediocre OF who's a FA after this year. He isn't that good, and you'll definitely be disappointed by the haul you get for him (Not that you should be, but you just are a blind homer)

The only Padre I would think about moving F-Mart for is Jake Peavy. I wouldn't even give up Neise for Giles at this point.

Freddy Delosi? Wake up...
