I know the Marlins probably want a veteran catcher, but what about a prospect for prospect swap with them receiving Saltalamacchia and the Rangers receiving a young pitcher?

Don't particularly care what Tex "prefers". Just keep him and take the draft picks. That trade is officially a bust for Atlanta. Wish we could have held onto Feliz at least, that's going to come back to bite us.

Cox really doesn't want to send Stenchy down for some reason, don't know who in the organization is considering that move. It's waaay overdue.

If we don't turn things around within the next 2 weeks, I would at least listen to offers for Tex. If nothing good comes along, take the picks, but if we can get some good players in return, then pull the trigger. Tex will never sign a long-term deal to stay in Atlanta.

If we can turn things around, I say keep Tex and trade for Holliday & Fuentes!!

Funny, with this Orioles-Royals series going on right now, I've thought several times that Billy Butler is exactly the type of player that the Orioles could use. After recently being sent down, I'd be willing to bet that his trade value has diminished somewhat too. I still hope Millar's replacement is Texierra, but Butler could get ABs in Baltimore either way.

Aren't the Marlin's sending scouts to O's games to look at bullpen arms and Ramon Hernandez?

The problem with taking the draft picks, is that next years draft is supposed to be pretty weak. So I think that might scare some teams into keeping their players.

P.S. Hey O's fans 2 things. 1 Where is Matt Weiters? And 2 Will you be mad if Buster Posey signs for more than Weiters?

"The problem with taking the draft picks, is that next years draft is supposed to be pretty weak. So I think that might scare some teams into keeping their players."

That's why I say that, if the Braves get a reasonable offer for Tex and they are out of the playoff race, it would be better to get some MLB-ready players for him instead of a couple of draft picks that may, or may not, work out.

Don't get me wrong, I sincerely hope the Braves turn it around soon, but its not looking too good.

I've heard on numerous occassions that next year's draft class is a "weak one" which begs me to ask, what exactly constitutes a weak draft class in baseball? I can understand such a statement in basketball/ football when the number of players selected/ signed are FAR fewer than in baseball. Not to mention that in the MLB draft the same players often are drafted three years in a row!

Don't get me wrong, I in no way claim to be an expert on the MLB draft; I think it is without question the most difficult to dissect and completly acsertain. And I can understand if people don't think there's a "can't miss" ala BJ Upton or Tim Price. I just think to call a field of 1500 + prospects "weak" is a pretty
ludicrous statement.

errr... kinda morphed Tim Lincecum and David Price into one superhuman pitching prospect. my bad

AriGoldisaG:

Weiters is now at AA Bowie and there is talk of him coming up to the club for good next year.

Buster Posey can sign for whatever he wants, it wouldn't bother me at all. From what I understand, Posey is somewhat of a question mark as to which position he will play and I'm not sure that his bat is advanced as Weiters. Posey is new to the catcher position so he is harder to project. I've heard relatively little comparing the two players, so if Posey does stick at the catcher position, they (Posey and Weiters) will be different types of catchers in terms of game calling, defense, and hitting.

BucksLose,

Yeah, the "weak class" thing comes in the fact that at this point in time there are not many true "sure-thing" guys. Its often times said a year prior to a draft though, and there are 300+ days for those statements to start to change.

errr, sorry ~ "BucLose"... Dont know where that K came form...

Agreed, dark, it's far too early to tell who can be hit with the "can't miss" label already. For Christ's sake the signing period isn't even over for this year's draft class. Let the kids play a little ball next year before we call them the future "Angel Berroas and Kris Bensons" of the league.

BTW, dark, thanks for taking time away from babysitting the kindergarden cubs fans to respond.

Yeah BucsLose, I’m not sure too many “cant-miss” guys will even show up, but “cant-miss” guys only amount to the first couple picks so pick 20-something is hardly going to be effected much anyway. I see no reason to think anyone would be worried about taking Compensation-Picks solely because its said to possibly be a weaker class, said weaker class effects the picks they wouldn’t be getting anyway…

And, hahaha yeah…

The Braves need to quit "considering" sending Francouer down and just do it. He's awful. He has never had plate discipline to begin with, so it comes as no surprise people have figured out how to pitch to him. If this was McCann no one would have a problem sending him down, but because for some reason everyone has grown attached to Jeff they feel the need to continuously let him screw up and cost this team many many games.

As a Braves fan Id prefer it if Francoeur would just leave.

Braves4ever, please go support another team. You're clearly a nothing more than a fair weather fan if you ask a young player with enormous potential and ties to the community to leave because he's in a slump. He's struggling, and is adjusting his swing, get over it. If you really support the braves, you'll support Frechy and hope he gets his swing back.
