Could an Aubrey Huff type be a fit for the Redsox?

This is me calling a future event.
Red Sox claim Sheffield for two reasons. First and foremost to add depth, especially now with Lowell out. Youk can play 3rd and Sheffield and play 1st. Second, to block Tampa Bay.

Yes I am biased, however in Passan's list, no Carlos Quentin?!
Tied for the Major League lead in HR's, top 5 in the AL in RBI's. Coming off a season of shoulder surgery, traded to a team in the offseason with way too many outfielders and then fighting his way to be a legit AL MVP.

No signing will be made by the sox. Youk shifts to 3rd, and who better out there then Sean Casey? The man's been dying for an opportunity to get some serious playing time. He's been a HUGE asset off the bench.
No signing of sheffield magnitude will be made. Lowell will hopefully be back in a few weeks, and sheffield will be the same whiney fool he is with detroit. He's hitting .219 vs casey .353. You tell me who's the better choice. The only reason casey doesn't play every day is because they Sox are overstocked at 1st base.

ChiSox: I agree with you entirely! To have the season that quint is having after everything he's been through is astounding. I would single handedly give him credit for switching the white sox from predicted 4th place to a true competitor for the division, in fact i'd even say a favorite.

I will be shocked if Sheffield is claimed by any team.
Good call on Quentin!

The Sox didnt just trade a pain in the butt to obtain a pain in the butt. Sheffield is lucky to be playing anywhere soon, his numbers allowed people to put up with him, but the slipping is going to make it alot harder for him.
I agree with Santana/Beckett, Casey solves this problem until the playoffs, if we make it of course

Santana/Beckett: I don't know if i would single handedly give him the credit. Ramirez coming in and batting .310 with gold glove defense at 2B and putting in his ROY bid for the year (too bad Longoria had to be in the AL). Pierzynski batting close to .290 the whole season as a number 2 hitter as added so much as well.
However, I will give you the fact that he carried the White Sox the entire first half of the season. He's been given off until Thursday after being hit by pitches in 5 straight games.
Enough argument, he needs to be on that list, if not #2 behind Hamilton.

ramirez i agree with you. AJ's been HORRID as of late (at least the maybe 10 games i've watched the past 30 days). hes grounded into a lot of big double plays with runners on 1st and 3rd to end innings and things of that sort.
Yes behind hamilton at #2 is where Quent belongs though.

Jody Gerut needs a spot on Passan's list. The man missed two full seasons with knee injuries and came back this year with a 125 OPS+ in center field. His story really needs some more press.

Yes, as of late AJ hasn't been the best he has been. However, when Dye, Thome, and the rest of the line up was batting below .230, AJ, Carlos and Ramirez carriend the team. If anyone deserves a bit of slump, it's AJ. Just like Quentin had his a couple weeks ago.

I can't see the BoSox claiming Sheffield. I could see the Rays getting him IF the Tigers ate most/all of the salary.

that story about that kid is sad. my brother is a pitcher to and is 10 years old. he already has arm problems.

I was confused for a moment... The Braves must have this Kaaihue guy's brother in their system, and his name is only 1 letter different. K-A-L-A, not K-I-L-A.

i could see beane trading ducherer for andrus and salty.
Posted by: thegoods24 | August 13, 2008 at 11:47 PM
sorry andrus or salty

hamiliton has not even been the best player on his team. kinsler is the man and he deseveres mvp consideration more than hamilton. neither will get it though because the mvp doesn't need to come from a team that isn't that good. my vote is k rod or q.
