Its not April anymore, the Mets "horrible" farm system has produced quite a few rookies who are keeping the team in first place. They wont trade for a closer though. The Mets will use Al Reyes in Wagner's place until he comes back.

And give me a good reason the A's would pick up Embree's option. The A's have something called depth, and Embree is their worst reliever and relatively expensive. If the rookies finish off the season on a strong note, Embree's not coming back.
Rollins- Not talking to media is a good idea.
If the Mets dont make playoffs this year, Minaya could be in some hot water.

i agree with the mets having some good prospects for trade. evans, murphy, potentially eddue kunz. they have a log jam at 2nd base when castillo comes back. i am satisfied with the way that a. reyes and easly have been playing.
worst case scenario, why not put maine into the closer role and move heilman to the rotation which is really all he ever wanted to do anyway? plenty of options...

If Brian Fuentes clears waivers I will crawl to the home of every single reader of this blog and personally hand every one a hundred dollar bill.

Madden's article is about 3 weeks late. Not a surprise since he wrote that Torre would be fired a year early and that he'd be kept a year late.

no need to crawl bobo, western union works too...

So last week, when they weren't in first place, what was your opinion of their horrible farm system...because it is much closer to horrible than anything else..

i don't understand why people insist on throwing maine in the bullpen. are you watching the games? his main issue this year has been throwing too many pitches and a higher walk rate. that's before we even talk about his current shoulder/forearms issues and now you want to have him close?

Jimmy Rollins goes from hero to zero in the course of the last two seasons. He's talking himself right out of town and I'm just waiting for the front office to butcher this one.

i don't think maine would be a permanent solution but given his arm issues, it might save on it. i think he has the composure to close...

Good for Jimmy. He is absolutely right. And it is not just Philly, it is NY also, and a lot of other places. There are so many idiot fans that really are knee jerk, front running losers. In NY and Philly. Jimmy is absolutely right and I am glad that somebody finally told it how it is. That a whole bunch of fans are front running ignorant tools who actually enjoy booing players, and have a very small idea of how baseball works.
As for the Mets bullpen, it will be ok. Who want Brian Fuentes? I am perfectly fine with Ayala and Reyes. I would have preferred these 2 over Fuentes or Street even before the deadline. No gauruntees Street or Fuentes are any good after a trade in a pennant race. They would cost a ton. And historically, Fuentes is not even much better, if any, then Luis Ayala. These are 2 of the sort of bullpen moves I was hoping for. They are minimal downgrades from Fuentes/Street, and they costed literally nothing.

And Bobby Parnell is throwing some serious gas down in triple A. Hs been hitting 99 on the gun. I bring him up to help out before payign out of the ass for a "top" relief arm, which is sort of like an oxy-moron. RP's cant be trusted, their production will fluctuate from year to year like no other athlete in any sport. Fuentes lost his job just a year ago he was so dreadful. He only got it back because Corpas gave it back. Huston Street is hurt every single year, and he is not even pitching well at all this season. There are my 2 cents on that issue.

For anyone who says it's just in NY and PHL, doesn't know what they are talking about. Everyone knows that there are 3 types of places in MLB today. 1. Critical. Any town that has any kind of passion and investment into a team will be critical of the play good or bad. Players typically only want to hear the good. 2. Uncaring. For the most part, these towns only sell out when a 1st place team comes to town. Generally have a hard time selling out games. Florida, Oakland, Atlanta, or Houston to name a few. 3. St. Louis a.k.a. baseball heaven. I'll admit I don't care if you just gave up a game losing GS HR they still cheer.
The major beef I have with Jimmy Rollins is that he paints all fans with a broad stroke. I will only boo the good players on the opposing team. Not once have a booed to a player on the home team. How quickly these players forget how much we cheered for Thome when he came back. The only thing Thome did while he was here was knock number 400 and open our eyes to Ryan Howard. How about Aaron Rowand's return. I won't deny that probably 30% of the fans boo. But they are fake fans anyway. How can you go to a baseball game and start up a football chant because the home team is losing in the 5th inning? I don't deny that a portion of the fans are complete ignorant bafoons, but the majority of the fans are the polar opposite not just in PHL or NY, but also LA and CHI.

not a chance in the world embree makes 3 mil from any team in the world next year let alone the a's. The a's are keeping him around to hopely net some picks. The problem is going to have him not accept arbitration. Somehow they got piazza last year not to accept maybe they get lucky with embree.
