9:53pm: The Rocky Mountain News is reporting Wells signed with the Royals and will initially work out of the bullpen.
4:02pm: According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, the Royals have interest in free agent pitcher Kip Wells. The Horacio Ramirez reclamation project worked out well for KC, so Wells is worth a look. Wells needs better control and a solid defense behind him; his strikeout and groundball rates are solid.

Kip Wells, ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I will lose all respect for DM if he pulls this ridiculous move. Excuse me while I lose my lunch.

What are his numbers in the bullpen again? The ERA was a little to low for me to remember.

PJH- the Royals gave up nothing and are paying him the prorated minimum (Kip was DFA'd so the Rox pick up the rest of the salary).
My guess is that he'll be used to eat innings in blowout situations to perhaps preserve better arms.

melonis rex. I understand your point, but at this point, I don't think KC can afford anymore losses if we want to have less than a 90 loss season. Wells will not help. even though he does have decent numbers in the pen, I just have zero confidence in him, regardless the price. This guy needs to be tossed out of MLB for good. There is a reason he can't get a multiyear contract.
