Justice always rights garbage like that....one day he is on the Astros bandwagon praising Wade, then the next he ridicules him. Just decide one way or the other Justice.

"Richard Justice says some GMs complained privately that Ed Wade didn't do a good job letting teams know Brad Lidge was available last year."
So basically Ed Wade decided to move Lidge, got an offer of Bourn/Bruntlett/Costanzo, and jumped on it? Really?
How could the guy get an offer like that and then decide to not try and pawn him off to a different team?
Wade's a moron.

Of course they are complaining now. Last winter all they talked about were concerns about his health ... physically and mentally.
Anyway, it's not Wade's responsibility to shop an available player. This sounds like a copout and an excuse for those GM's not doing THEIR job. Wade didn't get full value for Lidge, and it would've been in his best interest to hold out for more. But if he's that impulsive, opposing GM's need to being taking advantage of that now instead of bitching about what might have been.

It was Bourn, Geary, and Costanzo scribbletone. I'm not entirely surprised by this. Wade wanted HIS players. The players that he drafted or had for a while and it was stupid. Granted the trade didn't look bad when it took place, but it was definitely stupid if he didn't shop Lidge around to everyone. Especially considering he was a highly sought after trade commodity then with how successful of a trade it would have been had Lidge bounced back. Which he did. If Bourn turns it around then it won't be bad but yeah it is possible that they could have received more.

i want to thank ed wade for finally making a trade to put the phillies over the top.

Wade, in my opinion is the worst GM in baseball along with Minaya.
Billy Wagner trade was bad. Lidge, Valverde, Tejada, Wolf trades were all very teriible. I hope it was the owner and not Wade making these trades.

Lol, Ed Wade did something wrong? I find that hard to believe!!! You mean he just dealt with the Phils because he already knew their prospects without even checking around much for better offers? No, not Ed Wade!! He wouldn't do something so foolish, he's a genius!

Right, Bruntlett went to Philly with Lidge, I got that mixed up.
Regardless, Wade failed to get full value for Lidge, and didn't even look around and try. It's not up to other teams to call Wade when they weren't aware Lidge was being shopped.
Michael Bourn's best case scenario is Juan Pierre with a better arm. If Bourn/Geary/Costanzo is the best Wade could do, then there's no doubt he failed as a GM.
But I blame McLane for Houston's issues far more than Wade. I dont think people realize what a bad owner he is.

"Michael Bourn's best case scenario is Juan Pierre with a better arm."
Actually, not really. Bourn has significantly more power and historically has taken more walks.
"Regardless, Wade failed to get full value for Lidge, and didn't even look around and try."
You seem to forget just how bad Lidge was after Pujols sent him into orbit. He was absolutely terrible, Joe Borowski terrible, in 2006 and still hadn't built much value back by blowing 8 out of 27 SVO last year.
Additionally, the trade haul was not bad at all on paper. Geary had a fine season this year, Bourn had great lead-off numbers in the minors and in his stint with Philly last year and Mike Costanzo was hardly a throw in and that they turned around to pick up Tejada. All that for a closer who's stock was in the dumps.
At the time, it looked like they were getting at least full value for Lidge.

I agree AA, at the time it looked like a good move for Houston and Philly agreed that it looked good for them IF Lidge bounced back....well he did, so, now everyone is complaining on each end........WAAAAAAAA. Get over it, wait til Pujols sends him into orbit one more time. Anyone know where i can find a video of that homerun? I looked all over you tube© and can't find anything?
