« Giants Sign Jeremy Affeldt | Main | Orioles Sign Hennessey »
According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, the Braves made an offer to free agent lefty Will Ohman. At least ten teams are interested, so Ohman will continue to test the market. Bowman figures Ohman is looking for two or three years at roughly $4MM per.
Ohman, 31, posted a 3.68 ERA in 58.2 innings for the Braves this year after coming over in a trade with the Cubs. He held lefties to a .200/.257/.314 line.

He said he liked playing for the Braves so let's hope that he'll consider that too instead of the biggest contract.

Would like to see Ohman back for sure. Bullpen could be a huge strength for the team if Moylan and Soriano can come back and be effective.

I agree, the Brave's bullpen could be very good this year IF Moylan and Soriano can return strong from injuries and IF Ohman is resigned. I also wouldn't mind seeing Jorge Julio back with the Braves, he pitched solidly in the short time he was with the team.

Is it me or does it seem like the "smaller" priced guys are being gone after stronger than in years in the past. It use to be, IMO, that the big fish go and then, once the market is set, the smaller guys are snapped up in Dec and Jan. I guess that's the economy talking.

Oh yeah. I would think that teams have less budget flux, and thus will try to patch their minor holes up first before throwing the dollars at the big guys to fix the major holes.

Braves should also take a look at Dennys Reyes. He's done very well over the last three years. Maybe even think about bringing Juan Cruz back as a relief pitcher.

Getting Ohman back would completely solidify our bullpen with Moylan Soriano Gonzalez and possibly Smoltz coming back and being in the mix........now on to the rotation and outfield. Dempster and Dye anyone?

Getting ohman back would be great, but Wren can't get too caught up in trying to bring ohman back until he lets burnett, lowe, and other starting pitchers get away bringing ohman back would not be as major as signing burnett, lowe, dempster or any other starting pitcher. And have the braves ruled out on bringing in ben sheets, because he may be the most likely to sign with the braves because its closer to his home.

a couple years ago "bullpen" was the major offseason concern and now it looks to be one of the strengths. hopefully that's what we can say about starting pitching in 2 years right? maybe? anyone?

I hope the cardinals sign him. Will "Oh man" will get rocked at wrigley no matter what uniform he's wearing.
