When will Adam Dunn become a bargain? His name is barely mentioned. He takes his walks, hits homeruns. I know he strikes out a ton but still, he might be an under the radar signing.

Juan Rivera for 2/6-8? I'll take two.

I'm with you Mike A., I've always been a Rivera fan. He's always been able to hit, and should make for a nice addition for some team.

Hmmm a 1) Right handed, 2) LF, 3) with def power potential 4) for not alot of money screams BRAVES. Would then still give them a ton of the 40 million they had to play with to sign their SP's.

I'd be happy with Rivera for that price and then take the money saved and what we'll save after Eaton's gone and sign Hamels to a long term extension.

Cameron's list is pretty much awful.

Wonder what Johnson is gonna ask for. Seemed ready to take a big cut for Arizona. If he'd be up for $8-10M I'd love to see Cleveland land him. He'd fill that number 3 spot right behind Carmona nicely.

Would LOVE to see Randy Johnson sign a 1 year contract to the Phillies for about 6+ million and incentives....
He still has 12-15 wins in him on a winning team!

Felipe Lopez with the Phillies would be a very good signing as well.... with both Utley and Feliz coming off of surgeries... Utley being the bigger question as to when he will actually return, late April or late May.. big difference.
Lopez would fit nice.

We already have 2 lefties (Jenkins and Stairs) in RF or LF, we don't need an everyday OF, but Rivera or Baldelli would do really nice I think for us. Werth will be an everyday player. Marson I think will beat out Ruiz to become the starter in 2009.
Phillies are looking hard at Juan Cruz as a reliever, he would fit nice too...
Sign Moyer, and look to add either Lowe, AJ, Johnson or Sheets and we have REPEAT written all over us!
And if the Phillies are REALLY serious about repeating.. SIGN MANNY!!!
He IS the Answer to protect Howard....! None better!

I hope the Angels re-sign Juan and play him fulltime. Its criminal that he sits on the bench and Gary "The Perfect Strike Out Machine" Matthews gets time.

If you win a world series based on team, why would you sign someone who is the antithesis of team?

"Crasnick mentions the Rangers as an interesting fit for Crede."
The Rangers are an interesting fit for Crede...because then the Rangers could have 2 often injured 3B that they can swap on and off of the DL at a combined salary of about 12-15 million per season. Crede and Blalock combined aren't a safe bet to reach 162 games. They had exactly 162 games played combined last year. It would typify how Jon Daniels runs the Rangers.

"Crasnick speculates that Philadelphia could be a nice fit for Felipe Lopez"
He's right, Lopez's warning track power would be great in that tiny stadium.

and Lopez has speed as well.. He ha averaged 23 steals a year for the past 4 years, with an average of 12 HRs as well...

Screams a lot of teams, including the Braves' two main division rivals
I'd like Lopez a lot in a utility role for the Phils, but couldn't he get a starting 2B job (with according salary) somewhere, STL or ARZ?

Braves would be interesting, but I'd assume they'd sign another OF as well. If Rivera goes down, they have the crapfest in OF that they had this year.
Juan Rivera doesn't scream "bargain" to me. If he's healthy, he's a bargain, hands down. However, if he gives you all of 100 ABs over 2 years, he's 10MM flushed down the drain. And, his defense is subpar.
However, it would be foolish to sign him and rely on him as a starter. If a team has OF depth, a good amount of resources after taking care of other needs, and a serviceable replacement already available internally, they should sign him. If not, I'd say no.
