Maybe with Crisp traded the Reds will have more interest in Juan Pierre. Getting him off the Dodgers would be a dream come true, regardless of the return.

I think this idea of leverage is played out.

Sure this move gives a little more flexibility with Boston's pitching but I doubt it affects negotiations.

Red Sox seem to have an overpaid 4th outfielder spot open. Realistically though the Dodges need to pay the majority of his contract to get a bench player making double digits out of there or else package him. If we are talking about dreams, the how about the Red Sox trade you Buchholz, Josh Reddick, and Luis Exposito for Russel Martin and Juan Pierre. You get 2 of our top 3 prospects and our top catching prospect, get rid of the rediculous contract and cut your payroll by 15 mil

I like Rocco as a 4th outfielder in Boston though if he is truelly over his illness. I'm sure they could have Gabe Kapler back easy as he always liked Boston.

"Kaegel says "word from Chicago downplays the Cubs' reputed interest" in Mark Teahen."

THANK GOD!!! I think Hendry should take it to the next level and just come right out and say that we have our underachieving left handed outfielder in Kosuke and dont by any means need another!!!!!

I like the potential for a ripple effect from the Crisp deal.

Yes, the Ramirez acquisition may free up Masterson, but it could be for a deal involving a catcher. Texas has made rumblings that they'd like two significant pitchers and while I don't think Boston would give up Masterson AND Bowden, one of them plus perhaps Bard might work.

And the Crisp acquisition is likely to mean Teahen is moved, and he's financially appealing to the Cubs. They could do worse, and aren't all that likely to snare a top dollar solution to their outfield problem. Wuertz could be a decent price for Teahen, especially if the Cubs are concerned about the dip in his K/rate.

I would like to see the Reds offer the Royals Majewski for Gathright myself and I would stay far far away from Pierre.

Considering the Reds gave Corey Patterson 366 ABs and he gave them a .205/.238/.344 line (think for a second just how bad that is) in return, I bet Juan Pierre would look pretty darn good.

Maybe an Edwin Encarnacion and Homer Bailey (two guys who the Reds don't seem to keen on) for Pierre, James McDonald and a small sum of cash. The Reds get the better pitching prospect (though Bailey is still has decent upside and could benefit from a change in scenery) while the Dodgers get the better major leaguer, AND unload an ugly contract.

I am sure the Yanks could trade some bullpen arms + maybe Kennedy or another prospect for someone like DeJesus. I don't know much about DeJesus except that he is a capable CF so hopefully I did not undervalue him.

I think Kapler would be a perfect fit. He was an awesome bench player for the Sox (awesome besides the number he put up, which we average). As we saw last year with his leaping-into-the-crowd-catch, he still has some glove left in him. He'd also be a good clubhouse guy to go along with Papi and Lowell (not mentioning pitchers here) and it also might help deal with a Varitek loss.

i think the royals should get braden looper he can be a starter or be in the bullpen and which ever he goes we could move someone somewhere else.

Does anyone know how much Beimel will cost???

I second that notion. Move on from the Teahan talks Cubs. He might turn out to be good on another team. The Cubs can't afford to take taht gamble.

Be patient, sharx-san. While I also hope we do not waste our time acquiring Teahen, I hold a hope and a hunch that Fukudome will play closer to our expectations of him this year, and could prove to be quite valuable in his ability to cover CF in addition to RF...

At least, I'm sure hoping so.

Rocco wont go to the Sox. The Yankees would be a good fit. He will have a good chance to start everyday. Then again, thats sacrificing the defense for what could be a good bat.

wow yankfan what a joke, you apparently don't even know your own team that well, rocco would start everyday in the bronx? REALLY? let's see, you've got matsui, damon, abreu, melky, and nady in the outfield, plus gardner waiting in the wings, and if you sign teixera then swisher either dh's or moves to left with hideki dh'ing... so once again REALLY!

and baldelli is sacrificing defense? once again REALLY! over who? a rapidly aging and oft injured matsui? or maybe damon, who is a shell of what he once was? what basis do you make that statement?

baldelli either resigns with the rays or comes back home to new england with the sox, he won't end up in new york if for no other reason than you have no room for him...

and if cashman were to make that move, i would not be able to stop laughing because it would just re-affrim that the notorious and idiotic yankee philosophy of throwing money around and stock piling players gets "the bombers" nowhere...

LOL @ yankfan1

I'm sure Baldelli would love coming to Boston seeing as he's a New England native and a Sox fan. Unless he can get more playing time or more $$$ somewhere else, 4th outfielder for Boston would be a great fit. You can probably count on him getting a lot of playing time especially considering Drew's health risk and if Ellsbury is slumping.

Devlsh, I garuntee you if Bailey was available, he would pull in a nice haul with his talent. I'm sure plenty of teams like the Marlins, Mariners, DBacks, Braves, and Brew Crew would be more than willing to give him a shot to pitch in a park that dosen't make you wish you were at Coors Field.

Good trade by Epstein...again...basically what happened in the long run is Edgar Renteria(for Marte...for Crisp) for Ramirez. I'd take that with the value of quality relief these days. This pen could shut down anyone due to the outstanding 7-8-9 with Ramirez, Oki, and Paps.

Crisp is yet to break out like I expected. You never know. Royals needs to trade Teahen or Dejesus for someone worth a second look.(Laird/Salty anyone?)

as a dodger fan I'd pee my pants if i saw a Pierre/McDonald for Encarnacion/Bailey trade on the news ticker. Too good to ever become true.

The reds need an outfielder(s) but not bad enough to create a hole at third unless they want to move Bruce or Votto there.

If I were a reds fan I'd consider Encarnacion a part of the team's core.
