« Davidoff's Latest: Sabathia, El Duque, Heilman | Main | Jake Peavy Rumors: Tuesday »
MLB.com's Steve Gilbert talked to Brandon Lyon's agent Barry Meister, who said his client would be open to closing or an eighth inning role. Lyon would be thrilled to return to the D'Backs, but they don't figure to match a multiyear offer. More likely, they offer arbitration but let him leave.
Lyon, 29, posted a 4.70 ERA in 59.1 innings this year. His command was strong, possibly indicating better times ahead.

i think it would be a great pickup for the mets. they can get an eighth inning guy to go along with the closer they get. good pick up to revamp that bullpen.

He'd be great for any NL club as an 8th inning guy.

Hey gm, I agree with you. I am concerned about that era but at age 29, he might very well be worth a shot.

Why all the love for this guy? He gives up a ton of hits, isn't a strikeout pitcher. As a closer, he's at around 71% for his career, which is not very good. He'd be a high-priced set-up man who is very hittable. Right handed hitter hit .326 off of him last year. The only good hting I see is that he did much better on the road than at home, where hitters hit .356.
