Haha as a big Pirate fan it is not good to hear that all 6 of the other teams in on this guy have roughly 4 times the budget and money we do. Maybe if everyone else uses their money elsewhere we have a chance I would really like to get this guy.

It would be sweet, I'm not sure it will happen, but hey...I think it's too early to doubt the new management. After all, they did come to an agreement with Alvarez... anything can happen.. It's baseball!

I think the Alvarez signing shows intelligent thinking by the organization.
Instead of trying to "make a statement" and hold firm at the initial offer, Huntington added what was a relatively small amount to the deal to bring in Alvarez. If P-Vez is anything like the type of player he is projected, he will be worth a LOT more than 6.25MM for the 3 years the team has him controlled.
I would like to see extensions to guys like Doumit, Maholm, and McLouth, yay.
