According to Scott Lauber of The News Journal, the Phillies signed reliever Scott Eyre to a one-year deal worth $2MM plus bonuses. Eyre, 36, posted a 4.21 ERA in 25.2 innings with the Cubs and Phillies this year. He was much better in his 14.1 innings with the Phils. forget about Holliday, this is the BIG move of the day! Also Jimy Williams is not coming back to the bench. Wonder who replaces him???

Glad to see he'll make the lay-up's when they're there

Nice minor signing; Eyre wasn't nearly as bad in Chicago as his ERA would indicate.

Enjoy him Phillies. Congrats on the World Series win, but good luck getting back with the Mets and Braves looking to improve significantly this offseason.

still not scared of the braves, however with mets trying to get a bullpen that does scare me a little but we if go and get a right handed bat we will be aight.

not scared either. Phils are playing with house money now and if Carrasco performs as i expect and if the mets lose Perez (who always kills us), they'll find ways to lose. They are still the Mets and unless they find a way to rain out all September games, everyone will be taking about it. Oh and they had Wagner who was solid for 4/5's of the year and now he's gone. Let's see who they replace him with.
I hope we don't smell another Carlos Beltran prediction of who the team to beat is!!

which of the two is bigger news? Phillies World Championship or Postponing game 5 for 2 days?

if the mets get a half decent bullpen lookout phils, thats the one thing that has held that team back, but then again the mets need some defensive help also so either way look out for ground balls and pop ups around the center of the diamond.
