I don't buy it that Moose is going to retire. I think he wants to win 300 games. Hey, i guess if he wanted to retire now, he'd leave one of his best years behind him.

as a Yankee fan I love moose and pettite and whould want them back as far as cc I am hoping the Yankees don't sign him. For mutiple reasons. First off he can't pitch in the A.L anymore. Also in three years he will have tommy john surgery or his arm will just fall off. He will be the next carl pavano.

The 2007 AL Cy Young winner cannot pitch in the AL anymore?
Posted by: Not Joe Morgan | November 08, 2008 at 11:02 AM
Of course he can pitch in the AL. Mynameborat is obviously a Yankee fan. Therefore, we can assume his brain doesn't function nearly as well as that of a normal human being. Just ignore him.

The Yanks already know they can't trade for Peavy. Now, they will definitely sign CC and either Burnett or Lowe and Pettitte. Then if Mussine retires he retires or they bring him back because you never have too much starting pitching and the Joba decision is not in stone. But the 130 innings is.

Why exactly can't he pitch in the AL?
I am a Yankee fan, mets - trust me, at least 50% of us would realize what a stupid comment that is.
I agree though! Let's take back 6.00+ ERA post ASB Pettitte rather than sign Dominant Sabathia!
You should be the GM.

"First off he can't pitch in the A.L anymore"
I seriously can't believe I just read that

Hey Borat.....Just for the sake of asking why would you think CC can't pitch in the AL?
Posted by: YanksFanSince78 | November 08, 2008 at 11:24 AM
"First off he can't pitch in the A.L anymore."
That comment is so rediculous they should delete it. Are you not smart enough to know that he won the AL Cy Young award back in 2007? Or that he was in double digit wins every full year he pitched in the AL? Why wouldnt you want him as a Yankee fan? All he will do is be out ace that we desperately need.

Swisher for Melky Cabrera and Juan Miranda? Any thoughts?

"Of course he can pitch in the AL. Mynameborat is obviously a Yankee fan. Therefore, we can assume his brain doesn't function nearly as well as that of a normal human being. Just ignore him."
I'm a Yankees fan, sir.

Sabathia is shaping up to be the pitching version of Alex Rodriguez. He's untouchable and insanely dominant during the regular season.
Then he disappears in the post.
His career ERA in the post season is 7.92. He's won once.
He's an amazing pitcher, but just can't get the job done past September.

Swisher for Melky and Miranda is fine for me but I want.
Damon CF
Jeter SS
Ramirez LF
Teixeira 1B
ARod 3B
Matsui DH
Nady RF
Posada C
Cano/Hudson 2B if Peavy possible Hudson
Yes, I am a greedy and spoiled Yankee fan.
Also, CC, Burnett, Pettitte/Lowe/Mussina 2 of 3
Joba in bullpen

mynameborat is hilarious.
Did you really call CC the next Pavano? Really?
Posted by: Bernie Brewer | November 08, 2008 at 11:49 AM
Peter, its 5 starts. Sample size.
Posted by: Not Joe Morgan | November 08, 2008 at 11:51 AM
"Then he disappears in the post."
ill believe that when we finally see him in a playoff game when hes not overwhelmingly fatigued.
Posted by: GeneralManager | November 08, 2008 at 11:54 AM
I dont see why the Yankees would need Swisher we have a logjam of outfielders already (Damon,Nady,Matsui) and a duo of Melky and Gardner is perfectly fine with me in CF until midseason when Austin Jackson is said to be ready (lets give them a shot right out of the gate it can't hurt)
Mynameborat horrible comment... i mean that was so poorly thought out i dont even wanna elaborate on it but you no i am going to...
1 CC can pitch in the AL and will dominate and be an ace for the Yankees
2 Bringing back Pettitte or Mussina is fine with me but to ignore CC and go after them is just idiotic
3 How are you so sure he will need Tommy John Surgery in 3 years (poorly thought out)
4 He will not be the next Pavano because Pavano came here with a little above 500 record and no experience in the AL... As far as im concerned CC has alot of experience in the AL (he was the CY Youngin 2007) and his record is way above .500

Sample size or not, he's been terrible in the post season. Sure, this year he was utterly exhausted, but if that's the excuse every time out doesn't that point to a stamina problem overall?
Look, if the Yankees want to spend a ton of money on a guy who's got twice as many losses as wins against the Red Sox, OK. Go ahead. Just don't cry about it in the ALCS.
Posted by: peterherman | November 08, 2008 at 12:01 PM
Is Dustin Pedroia always going to be a .262 playoff hitter because he's only a .262 playoff hitter to date?
Posted by: Not Joe Morgan | November 08, 2008 at 01:35 PM
I would like to ask that most Yankee fans who post here should just stop. You are embarrassing us. You guys are stupid. Use your brains. And to everyone else, not every Yankee fan would say something that stupid.
Posted by: yanksown | November 08, 2008 at 02:42 PM
You should make a list of Yankees fans who are allowed to post, that way we know if we're ok or not.

"Sample size or not, hes been terrible in the post season"
Well we are gonna have to go with the "sample size" because its actually true. Try he made 3 starts in 9 days to get the brewers into the p,ayoss, that would be a stamina problem for any pitcher.

"You should make a list of Yankees fans who are allowed to post, that way we know if we're ok or not."
You'd probably be the only name on it

to help point out how bad it is to judge a player on such a small sample size, i turn to manny ramirez as a case point: before 1998, 135 AB's (37 games), 0.214 BA (he had decent HR's and RBI's during that period, but ill just take a small sample of his stats to prove my point :) ). not exactly a stellar number coming from a guy that is heralded as being THE postseason hitter, which he obviously is. and the seasons where CC has pitched in the playoffs, he has been exhausted. what rookie (2001) wouldnt be tired after pitching 180 innings? or how about a veteran who pitched 240+ and 250+ innings during the regular season of his playoff years?

These are the thoughts of a well functioning brain?
