According to Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post, the Astros signed pitcher Clay Hensley to a minor league deal worth $550K. Hensley, 29, posted a 3.94 ERA in Triple A and a 5.31 mark in the Majors this year after recovering from labrum surgery. The Padres chose to non-tender him.

Hey, while they're signing local guys, why don't we just go out and get the biggest local free agent?
Adam Dunn(Conroe).
Oh wait. I forgot who our owner was for a second.

This is actually a really good signing. Hopefully he can compete for the #5 spot in the rotation.
Hell, anything to get Backe out of the rotation!!!

I think that this is a good signing for the Astros. I always thought that Hensley had a good arm. Came up in the Giants organization until he was traded to the Padres for Matt Herges back in 2003. He has shown that he can be a good #5 pitcher/swingman for a major league club. Regret it that the Giants traded him in the first place.

Adam Dunn is not from Conroe.
He's from Porter. I would know, I go to New Caney High School, the same High School he went to.

Even if the Astros COULD fit Dunn economically I fail to see where the hell he would play. Either him or Lee in RF would be an absolute disaster. First base isn't an option with Berkman there. No room for him even if we had all of the money in the world.
As for Hensley, I like the signing; low risk , high reward. The guy has shown he can be an MLB pitcher but has had his struggles. I'll gladly take the chance on him, and with a minor league deal the worst case scenario is he adds a veteran arm to Round Rock.

lol I'm from Spring. I went to Josh Beckett's high school. It would be nice if Houston could sign either Beckett or Crawford next year this time. Is the Beckett option a team or mutual option for 2010?
