"Dave Cameron thinks the Cardinals did well on the Khalil Greene trade."
Hmmm...with the numbers he put up last year. Now we learn the Red Birds had to pick up the whole 6.5 million. The Cards are rolling dice on Greene for sure.

this is a question for Cardinal fans. First how long is Greene signed for. Do the Cardinals consider him a long term player or is he a short term answer for someone else in the minor leagues.

Nice to know that even with the good report on Carpenter that Mo has changed his focus to pitching.

Khalil is signed for this year only. Our SS prospects at this time include Tyler Greene and Pete Kozma, though it's hard to tell if either will make in impact in the majors, which is partially why the front office is buying some time with a one-year stop gap.

No biggie the Pads arent picking up any of Greene's contract. So basically its a 1 yr deal @ 6.5 mil. Thats certainly better than 2 yrs of renteria @ 9, and 4 yrs of Furcal @ 10+. Afterall, all they gave up was a reliever and a PTBNL.

I wonder if the rays and cardinals can match up in a trade for Ludwick involving starting pitching like Jackson, Sonnanstine or Niemann

would the Cardinals take BJ Ryan from Toronto to be their closer? im sure the Jays would love to free up Ryan's salary.
the Jays also have different arms in the bullpen available, someone like LH Scott Downs.
since Ted Rogers died and Rogers communications owns the Jays i dont even know what their plan is for the Jays. be nice to find out what they intended to do.

At this point, I myself would have derinite interest in BJ Ryan. His ERA this season was miraculous and pretty much anyone is better than Injuredhasbeen. As far as that goes, I will be happy with any LHRP right now. Hell, I'd take Villone back if nothing else (fingers crossed hoping we don't have to).

If I'm the Cards, I target Kerry Wood immediately. Doesn't cost prospects, can probably get him on a 2 year deal and groom Perez until then, and doesn't cost a draft pick. Oh, yeah, he is really good too.

I agree with Aduncaroo. I am surprised to not have heard about any interest in Wood. He's the perfect candidate in that he could probably be had for 2 years while Chris Perez and/or Jason Motte will be ready to close and he'd come fairly cheap (compared to Fuentes, K-Rod, etc.) Wood choice #1, Putz #2
