« Jack Wilson Rumors: Thursday | Main | Rays Meet With Abreu's Agents »
Paul Sullivan and Gordon Wittenmyer believe Milton Bradley is at the top of the Cubs' list for an outfielder. But even with the Matt Joyce acquisition, you have to figure the Rays are still a contender if the price is reasonable. The Rays can offer Bradley a chance to DH, which could be valuable if playing time incentives are part of his contract.
Both Chicago writers also name Raul Ibanez as a person of interest, with Sullivan citing Bobby Abreu as well.

I think of the outfielders available, Bradley is the one that most excites me. Frankly, he may be the only one that excites me. He probably has the most risk, but the most upside as well. Also, the Cubs have the depth to not be hurt too much if he goes down for a quarter of the season.
Lets get it done. 2/20 with a vesting 3rd year at 12 mil if he plays in 260 games...?

Erg... I want the Reds to wise up and sign Milton! Not the despised Cubs!
The Reds need some serious OBP injected into that lineup!
I think Milton is going to be one of the few good signings from this year's batch of free agents. I really like him. Even with his health issues and occasional temper acknowledged. I want him on my team, batting 3rd or 4th.

AWFUL TRADE FOR THE CUBS! Why does everyone want to get rid of DeRosa. He is way too valuable. Roberts gets hurt too much and is locked in at 1 position. Besides DeRosa's flexibility allows Fontenot to get some playing time. Trade for Peavy-Sign a Lefty hitter-and my biggest concern is a lefty in the bullpen. Cotts is terrible!

i dont understand bringing in all these teams and still having to give away vitters

I think Ibanez is the safest bet of the three, but Bradley is the most exciting and possibly most rewarding. A better ballpark could boost Ibanez to 25/100/.290+, but you're talking about a 30/100/.300+ possibility out of a healthy Bradley who is five years younger. I'd be more willing to sign him for 2/$20 MM w/3rd-year vesting option at $12.5 MM than I would Ibanez or Abreu.

1) I still have 4 finals to take, i HATE finals. I am in class trying to listen, but all I care about is this site and the Winter Meetings.
2) I dont think Peavy will be a Cub. I really do hope so, so JIM NEEDS TO GET THIS DONE TODAY!

"Cubs get Roberts, Peavy

The Padres give away one player and get the best return by far, meanwhile the Cubs trade seven players -- four of whom are MLB_ready -- for two vets and no prospects? Good thing you are not a GM.

i agree that its not a good deal for the cubbies. they'd easily get the worst deal of all the teams. if they can somehow swing this deal for bradley, a lot of things might open up for them. they'd have addressed their biggest glaring need and then they can focus on possibly getting another leadoff hitter to bump down soriano or they could stick with the lineup that won them 97 games while injecting a man who hit .330 last year.

Rays need to throw that cash at Bradely, I like that lineup created by delmonmvp

Well, if we need a right fielder, theres talks going on about possibly jeff francoeur going to the royals for zack greinke according to http://hardballblog.mlblogs.com/, jim hendry should offer up Marquis, Marshall, and Guzman possibly.... we no longer can trade donald veal because he was picked up by the bucs in the rule 5 draft today. anyyy suggestions?
