« Twins, Indians Not Interested In Tejada | Main | Yankees Rumors: Teixeira, Pettitte »
Based on comments by Red Sox GM Theo Epstein, they don't have much going on at the Winter Meetings. Epstein doesn't expect anything to get done, but admits speaking to one free agent today. MLB.com's Ian Browne wonders if it was C.C. Sabathia. Gerry Fraley says it was, with Epstein, Terry Francona, and John Farrell sitting in.

Theo was telling him, "Hold out for 7 years and $160 million. You'll get it."

Not suprising. Sox don't really have any glaring holes. Sure they could use a catcher but other then that, they are returning virtually every guy from last years team that went to the ALCS and they have already adjusted the bullpen a little.
Tek hit. 220 last year and the Sox managed to go as far as they did, so I don't see them getting overly desperate for a catcher because they showed its not a big deal to have a hole in the lineup. Plenty of solid defensive catchers that don't hit well are available. Kevin Cash is actually better defensively and could easily hit just as poorly.

Thats not being full of it. It is wise. Cashman would like to do the same but he has a big ah0le peering over his shoulder that makes him force his deck.
