I knew the Dodgers had an insurance policy on Schmidt!

Jr. Spiveys name makes me sick. The reason Scott Rolen went down hill, im and the Japanese/Tawainese(cant remember whcih he was) are the reason Rolen went from being an MVP canidate to average. Give Spivey the Bonds treatment!

Josh Bard to the Red Sox? They ran him out of town for Doug Mirabelli because he couldn't catch the knuckleball. Unless he learned how to catch it by now, that rumor makes no sense.

Eh to Bard... He had a solid campaign in 2007 with the Padres - but fizzled last year.
Red Sox fans must remember how they originally got Bard. The Sox got Coco Crisp, Bard and David Riske for Kelly Shoppach, Andy Marte, Mota, and a minor leaguer. So it originally looked like Bard was acquired ostensibly to offset Kelly Shoppach, who I thought would eventually take over for Varitek. Shoppach sure would be a great idea as the starting catcher in Boston right now eh?
Crisp is now Ramon Ramirez, Bard turned into Mirabelli, Riske turned into Javier Lopez
So that trade really turned into Boston giving up Kelly Shoppach for ultimately Javier Lopez and Ramon Ramirez, while both may be good bullpen additions - and I like their outlooks, but I'd rather have Shoppach securing the backstop for the near future.
By the way - check out a Rule 5 preview at http://www.mlbfreeagents.net/rule5gems.php

"The Dodgers knew Jason Schmidt had a partial rotator cuff tear when they signed him."
