« Cubs To Target Brian Roberts Yet Again? | Main | Rangers Seeking Turnbow and Others »
Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker passes along a report from Sanspo, a Japanese sports network, reporting that the Orioles have made a final offer to Kenshin Kawakami and are waiting for a response.
The Orioles reportedly have concerns about the health of Kawakami's shoulder and are offering an incentive-laden deal, but agent Dan Evans is seeking a higher base salary.
The O's are also still pursuing Koji Uehara and like him as a starter.

"Interesting, wish i knew the details price wise."
Me to, would also see a fit for him (price permitting) in Atlanta, NY Mets, Milwakuee, Anaheim, Texas and would have liked to have seen Boston pursue him before the signing of Penny.

Wow i have seriously never seen so many asinine little pri*ks in my life. So what the guy made a typo mistake. He's human, leave the guy alone, you should all be thanking him that he is working on New Years Eve, trying to provide YOU the latest info...
Baseball Related: Nice to see the Orioles getting serious about the Japanese pitchers here. Both Koji Uehara and Kenshin Kawakami are upgrades over Daniel Cabrera, who they non tendered.

Yea I thought he'd be a nice fit for Atlanta. I don't know if they've made him an offer yet or not...
Posted by: BravoMan | December 31, 2008 at 07:02 PM
Thanks, Rolling Night Hawk. That was nice. And Edge, you're the best.

I see no sense in "holding out" for more base salary for a 33-year-old Japanese guy who's tossed more than 200 innings in a season just once in an 11 year career and has a fairly substantial injury history.
Of course, this is the Orioles we're talking about. It could be a terrible offer...

That would be a horrible deal for the Braves! Francoeur, Escobar, Campillo and Hernandez! No F'n way!!! If we could sub Johnson for Escobar then I'd be all for it!

thats a horrible trade for the royals. a power arm, cy young talent kid who finished in the "A.L.’s top 10 in ERA, strikeouts, strikeouts per nine IP, and strikeouts-to-walks." for a nice SS, a RF who couldnt hit anything last year, a 31year old 4th starter, and Gorkys Hernandez. that'd be a steal

Jay212033
I was thinking the same thing, Escobar should be off limits.

Just stop! For one your only going to have Grienke for two more years anyway and second Guillen is overpaid and sucks!

Jay212033,
Yea I agee. Wren would never make such a horrible trade.
Posted by: BravoMan | December 31, 2008 at 09:04 PM
I wish Frank Wren would just give up on this guy. i really dont see how he helps our team. he isnt an ace, and he hasnt pitched alot of innings being on a 6 man rotation.
